Title: Assistant Professor of Sport Management

Position Summary
Elon University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Sport Management, beginning August 2025. The Sport Management major prepares students for the business of sport, including professional sport, college athletics, and sport-related agencies. Through extensive practical applications, students in Elon's Sport Management program develop an understanding of community and global service, with an emphasis on leadership and professional skill development. Additionally, Elon Sport Management faculty are able to engage in meaningful experiences with students including innovative teaching, mentorship programming, undergraduate research, and engagement in the Elon in Charlotte National Campus.
The successful candidate's primary teaching responsibility at the undergraduate level (B.S.) will be to teach six undergraduate courses each academic year in classes such as Contemporary Sport Management, Sport Data and Research, Sport Marketing, Sports Media, Sport Law, Sport Finance, and Event and Venue Management, which are all courses required as part of the Sport Management major.
Depending on?the candidate's qualifications, other courses assigned could support the?department's elective offerings, the school's?other?undergraduate majors, and the university core curriculum. Additional duties include regular service on departmental and university committees, academic advising and mentoring of undergraduate students, and exploring potential curricular development as appropriate to the interests of the successful candidate.
Advancing Equity Requirement (AER) Equity Scholars Cohort
A commitment to pedagogy and/or research in diversity, equity and inclusion in the sport industry is important as this candidate will join the university's Advancing Equity Scholars cohort. This cohort supports Elon's Advancing Equity Requirement (AER) initiatives such as 1) including methods in a course(s) to address or remedy injustice and inequality and/or (2) teach a course with an assignment focused on racial equity in the United States. Participation in this cohort includes course development funds and other benefits.
Minimum Required Education and Experience
Candidates must have a?terminal degree?in a related discipline and a track record of peer-reviewed scholarship commensurate with the appointed rank. Applicants who are ABD with dissertations near completion before August 2025 will be considered.
