Position JustificationPosition Information Position Title Assistant Professor of Theatre Unit Name Theatre Salary Grade Faculty Number of Months 9 months Full-time or Part-time Full-Time Hours per week 40 Annual Salary or Hourly Rate RangeEssential Duties Assistant Professor of Theatre: Nine-month tenure-track position Theatre Generalist with emphasis on Design and Production. The successful candidate will teach a twelve-hour course load per semester. The candidate will be responsible for teaching entry level Theatre core courses such as Theatre Appreciation. The candidate may also be asked to teach online graduate courses The candidate will receive three hours of release time for major departmental responsibilities; specifically, supervising the design and technical aspects of departmental productions Other duties include:Participate in and recruit at theatre conferences such as SETC and MTAProvide input to the formation of each performance seasonMentor students in areas of expertiseContribute to the development of the departmental curriculumContribute service to the cultural needs of the University and the community.Minimum Qualifications The candidate must have an MFA or PhD in a Theatre discipline or other related field. Some academic experience is preferred, as is expertise in a secondary field such as theatre management or costuming. Also, though not required, experience in Professional Theatre is preferred.Job Description Summary This is a nine-month tenure-track faculty appointment in General Theatre, requiring a twelve-hour teaching load with three hours consisting of release time for departmental productions.
