The Position:Assistant Professor, Physical Chemistry (tenure-track)Job Summary:The Muhlenberg College Chemistry Department invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in physical chemistry, beginning in August 2025. We are committed to hiring and supporting faculty who can contribute to the development of a diverse community through their teaching, scholarship, and service, and therefore we welcome applications from individuals who may have taken nontraditional career paths. The successful candidate will be student-centered and dedicated to diversity-affirming teaching in a liberal arts undergraduate environment. The successful candidate will also conduct, present, and publish research in chemistry that involves undergraduate students and also informs their classroom instruction. Applicants must have a PhD in chemistry and demonstrated teaching experience. Post-doctoral experience is preferred. Successful completion of background checks is also required.The standard teaching load is equivalent to three courses per semester, including the two-semester physical chemistry sequence with lab, as well as additional courses to serve the chemistry and biochemistry majors and/or general academic curriculum. The successful candidate will have their own office and research laboratory, as well as access to shared equipment and resources of the Chemistry Department. The Chemistry Department is well-equipped with a new 400-MHz NMR, several FTIR and GC-MS systems, microwave reactors, and a wide range of spectroscopic, chromatographic, and other instrumentation.
