The Plastics program at Shawnee has recently renovated labs for plastics processing, materials testing, design, machining, and additive manufacturing.Duties of the position include:Instructing undergraduate courses with emphasis on hands-on labs with state-of-the-art equipment in the Plastics Engineering Technology program. Areas of instruction may include: o Plastics Processing (includes a wide variety of industrial plastics processing courses and labs) o Plastic Part and Mold Design o Mold-making and CNC MachiningParticipating in curriculum and program advancement o Contributing to ABET accreditation efforts, including incorporation of outcome assessments and corresponding improvements into curriculum. o Staying current with industry trends and refining curriculum to maintain/improve alignment with industry needsEngaging with students in and out of the classroom in co-curricular activities. Minimum Qualifications Minimum Qualifications: Terminal degree in area closely related to Plastics Engineering Technology and 3 years industry experience in Mold design, Mold making, Machining, Extrusion and/or Injection Molding. Candidates with a Master's degree in field related to Plastics Engineering Technology and 5+ years industry experience will be considered if a Doctorate degree will be completed within 5 years of start date. Demonstrated experience, skills and competence to teach with emphasis on hands-on industrial labs and lecture courses consistent with a broad plastics engineering technology curriculum and industry needs. Demonstrable skills in oral and written communication in the English language; Strong professional experience in the areas of plastics processing technology including injection molding, extrusion, blow molding, thermoforming, and other manufacturing processes, plastic part and mold design, CNC machining, compounding and formulation, materials testing, and material science.
