As the Director of Field Experience, the person holding this position is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing all procedures for students, field sites, and faculty within the scope of the field experience to ensure that students are supported and competent in the skills and dispositional performance throughout the program. The Director of Field Experience analyses data to evaluate student proficiency, outcomes, and persistence. The Director of Field Experience is a full-time faculty member with a rank commensurate with experience and credentials and works in close collaboration with the Graduate Psychology Program Director, Graduate Student Advisor and other college stakeholders. This is a 10-month position that requires teaching at the Boston campus. The position reports to the Associate Dean with a dotted line to the Graduate Psychology Program Director. ResponsibilitiesThis is a full-time faculty position in a10-month academic year. (From the third week in August through last week in June - paid over 12 months). Over non-academic work weeks minimal responsibilities such are preparing for upcoming classes, curriculum development, maintaining contact with clinical sites, and reviewing website/catalog. All non-academic work week activities can be conducted remotely unless notified in advance.Director of Field Experience Functions:
  • Develop and maintain a network of practicum and internship sites, including visiting sites (remotely or in-person) and building relationships with site supervisors.
  • Ensure that the field experience component of the program adheres to state(s) licensure regulations.
  • Assist students in site selection and review of application materials for practicum and internship.
  • Assist students who are encountering issues related to their practicum and internship experience.
  • Coordinate with the Graduate Student Advisor to ensure that students are approved to begin their field training before they register for related courses.
  • Manage all elements of the technologies used in conjunction with Field Experience procedures including maintaining site affiliation agreements, monitoring progress of practicum and internship performance (student, supervisor, and site evaluations), hour logs, and related paperwork such as student liability insurance.
  • Train faculty who teach the supervision courses and site supervisors in the use of field experience tracking software.
  • Analyze data related to student field experience to determine its strengths and weaknesses and recommend changes to programs and courses that have a field experience element based on this analysis.
  • Oversee the remediation process for students who need further development in conjunction with the Graduate Psychology Program Director.
  • Communicate with academic department around issues of professional development, training concerns, rules and regulations, and the search and placement process
Faculty Functions:
  • Teach 6 graduate psychology courses per academic year as assigned by Graduate Psychology Program Director. (Teaching modalities are a combination of in person and online.)
  • 1 of the 6 courses may be in the undergraduate degree in Psychology (or other relevant programs), as assigned by the Associate Dean (The undergraduate course may also be taught as an overload.)
  • Provide subject matter expertise in the design of supervision courses (PS507, PS660, PS661, and PS690) and support to faculty teaching these courses.
  • Maintain currency with the scholarship related to clinical practice and counselor education and supervision.
Additional Duties and Responsibilities
  • Participate in accreditation efforts.
  • Attend GPS and Graduate Psychology and Counseling Department meetings and graduation ceremonies.
  • Participate in department-level strategic planning.
  • Collaborate with the Graduate Psychology Program Director in the program review process, curriculum revision, and the development of any new program offerings.
  • In conjunction with the Graduate Psychology Program Director, recruit and assist in hiring adjuncts to teach in the program.
  • This is a hybrid position; most courses are taught online (with a synchronous class component) and 2 courses taught in-person at the Boston campus, 1 in the fall term and one in the spring term.
  • Report to the Associate Dean of the School of Graduate Studies with dotted line to the Graduate Psychology Program Director
Qualifications
  • Doctorate in Counselor Education and Supervision, Counseling Psychology, or closely related field, preferred.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in online teaching and curriculum development.
  • Demonstrated specific knowledge and experience in field experience administration.
  • Current licensure as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) in Massachusetts at a minimum
  • Knowledge of Canvas preferred.
