UIC has over 300,000 alumni, and is one of the largest employers in the city of Chicago.Description:Position SummaryThe Division of Pulmonary, Critical Care, Sleep and Allergy members are highly engaged in advancing the science of practice of medicine with diverse areas of expertise including vascular biology, immunology, clinical outcomes and implementation research spread across pulmonary, critical care, sleep and allergy specialties. Our faculty are nationally and internationally recognized as leaders in their respective fields. The specific programs in the Division concentrate in Pulmonary Hypertension, ARDS and Lung Injury, Lung cancer, COPD and Asthma, Sleep Disorders and Nanomedicine and Drug Discovery. We have a very active portfolio of research projects, funded by the National Institutes of Health, VA system, PCORI, AHA, RHA, and various other private foundations or pharmaceutical companies.Duties & ResponsibilitiesThe appointee will maintain a productive research program and provide direct patient care. We are interested in applicants in the following areas of scientific investigation and clinical subspecialties: COPD/asthma. The focus can be on clinical or translational research. In this position, the incumbent will perform patient care on a part-time basis, no more than 20 hours per week, to patients at the University of Illinois Hospital and Health Sciences System, and to a medically underserved and diverse patient population. In addition, the incumbent will assist the Department to teach, train, and advise medical students, residents, and fellows in the field of Pulmonary Medicine, and other primary or subspecialties, based on the incumbent's expertise. The candidate will also assist with curriculum development, and perform university duties and administrative service as assigned. These areas are essential to any academic medicine program, and an integral part of medical student teaching and resident/fellow training.Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.Qualifications:This position requires a medical degree or its foreign equivalent, a Pulmonary & Critical Care fellowship training is required. Board certified or eligible. A valid Illinois medical license or eligibility for an Illinois medical license is required. Individuals that do not meet these minimum qualifications would not be considered for this position.
