Assistant Professor - Urban Policy and Planning Department (UPP)**FACULTY VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT**The Urban Policy and Planning Department (UPP) at Hunter College invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor. UPP is an interdisciplinary department with two graduate programs (Master of Urban Planning, MS in Urban Policy and Leadership), and an undergraduate Urban Studies program. The new faculty member will teach primarily, but not exclusively, in the department's new online Master of Urban Planning degree program. The faculty member will be expected to teach core required courses, as well as courses in their substantive area of expertise. Part of the faculty member's required teaching load will be fulfilled with the assumption of administrative duties to help with managing the new online program. As the new online program will be anchored by an urban informatics concentration, we especially welcome urbanist candidates with technical/digital/computational expertise, such as GIS and data science. Successful candidates will also have experience in online teaching and curriculum development. In addition, strong candidates will have a research agenda that addresses questions of public participation, community engagement, and social justice and equity.**QUALIFICATIONS**Ph.D. degree in urban planning or related discipline, demonstrated ability to teach at the graduate and undergraduate levels, a record of scholarship commensurate with academic rank sought, and a record of professional and institutional service.**COMPENSATION**The annual salary is based on a nine-month work year that is paid over the 12-month calendar year.
