Job DescriptionIf you have a desire to be an instrumental influence in the empowerment and redirection of some of NYC's most vulnerable, this is for you! St. John's is seeking the Assistant Program Director (APD) for our residential treatment center (RTC) program in the Rockaway Park, Queens area. The incumbent must have a bias for action as related to the care and guidance provided to youth served.This is a permanent, full-time, benefit eligible position that reports to the RTC Program Director. The APD works a standard 35-hour work week with some overtime/on-call, Monday-Friday.EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT: Minimum HS diploma required, BA degree or some college with knowledge of congregate care/child welfare. Required experience in residential treatment with troubled/troubling teens. Important character traits include mature, durable, ethical, high energy, results driven, and strong leadership skills.BRIEF SUMMARY OF DUTIES: The APD oversees and assumes responsibility for RTC residential assigned youth and staff alike; creates/adjusts staff schedules to meet program needs and comply with state mandated policy/protocol. Responsible for all aspects of the daily operation of the program, staff needs, and agency-wide mission statement. Meets with individuals and in groups as appropriate, in support of short/long-term planning goals. Ensures apartment upkeep for all units, daily and in preparation of audits/visits from stakeholders and state overseers. Monitors, assesses, and attends to all elements of the therapeutic milieu, assuring a positive normative culture in each living unit and the residential services at large. Directly supervises Unit Managers and, in their absence, their direct reports (Shift Supervisors/Youth Counselors/all others). Accountable for program documentation as required (incident reports, program logs, agency required forms/documents, etc.). Attends and schedules staff meetings as required to ensure program status/outcomes.Company Description: St. John's is an established child welfare agency serving youth throughout the NYC boroughs.
