Job DetailsJob Location Claflin University Main Campus - Orangeburg, SC Position Type Full Time Education Level 4 Year Degree Salary Range $35,000.00 - $38,000.00 Salary/year Travel Percentage Up to 25% Job Shift Day Job Category Education Description The Assistant Program/Laboratory Coordinator reports to the Math and Computer Science department chair and will assume responsibility for the day-to-day management of the Learning Resource Lab. He/she will coordinate operating activities and services to ensure that the laboratory meets the optimal needs of the students. The Program Assistant will perform a variety of technical functions and maintenance; provide troubleshooting support for the computers and tutorials (software); and assist student and faculty users. He/she will create and implement student development opportunities and maintain department statistics and reports. He/she will interact and collaborate with the Information Technology team for technical support and non-routine problem-solving strategies. The Program Assistant/Laboratory Manager will monitor the usage and effectiveness of the laboratory to ensure it is customer friendly; plan and develop schedules for student laboratory assistants and tutors; maintain attendance records for students; and process time sheets for payment. He/she will assist with all project activities such as summer enrichment programs, research programs, workshops and conferences, evaluations, and other educational learning experiences, and will perform any other duties within the scope of the position. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in mathematics, computer science, or related discipline is strongly preferred. The successful candidate must have a solid working knowledge of personal computers and software applications. The candidate must have a demonstrated ability to independently troubleshoot, address and resolve problems in a time-sensitive manner, work with minimum supervision, and display good time management and organizational skills. The applicant must possess excellent customer service, communication, training and mentoring skills.
