SHIFT:TUES-SAT/10:00AM - 6:30PMDEPARTMENT:EVANGELINE'S HOUSEPOSITION TITLE:ASSISTANT PROGRAM MANAGERSTATUS:FULL TIME, NON-EXEMPTSUPERVISOR:EVANGELINE'S HOUSE PROGRAM MANAGERMISSION STATEMENT:The Salvation Army, an international movement, is an evangelical part of the universal Christian Church. Its mission is to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ to meet human needs in His name without discrimination.SCOPE OF POSITION: Assist the Program Manager as needed.Provide temporary shelter, care, compassion, meals, and supervision for up to six Washington State Foster Care youth (10-17 years) and emerging adults (18-20 years) in emergency placement situations for a maximum of 30 days while awaiting placement.EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelor's Degree in social work or a related field
    • OR five years of successful related experience (need High School Diploma or GED)
  • One or more years of supervisory experience, preferred
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
  • 21 years of age
  • Proficient in typing, organizing and filing
  • Have some working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and other software
  • Self-motivated and work with a minimum of supervision
  • Maintain confidentiality with personal information
  • Preferably have knowledge/experience of customer service, social services and local resources
  • Valid Driver's License with clear driving record
  • Successfully complete TSA Driver Training
  • HIPAA Training
  • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal skills
  • Effectively work with a diverse population in a team environment
  • Annual Mandated Reporter training
  • Have or obtain a First Aid/CPR card
  • Have or obtain training on Bloodborne Pathogens
  • Have a negative TB test every two years
  • Pass a Criminal Background Check
  • Pass a DSHS Background Check
  • Produce a recent negative TB test
  • Have or take de-escalation and restraint training
  • Food Handlers permit
  • HIPAA Training
  • Capable of auditory and visual supervision; verbally and physically interact with children in care
  • Possess skills/abilities to successfully work with the challenging behaviors of youth in care
  • Effective communication and problem-solving skills
  • High personal standards of cleanliness and thoroughness
  • Be available to be on-call to cover other shifts during the week; some Holidays
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
  • Assist with preparing monthly staff meeting & trainings
  • Participation in lead/management meetings
  • Ability to manage employees and youth successfully within the program's structure
  • Be able to communicate effectively with professional agencies and administration
  • Prepare and manage an annual budget
  • Compile Evangeline's House monthly statistics as directed
    • Manage Program Operations Specialists with Program Manager
    • Assist in development/revisions of program and practices
    • Serve as agency's public awareness representative along with Program Manager
    • Attend lead meetings
    • Prepare and present disciplinary actions when needed
    • Fill in for staff when necessary; provide relief for staff breaks when necessary
    • Oversee staff schedules, timesheet procedures and breaks
    • Keep Background Check Log
    • Keep track of and maintain records of trainings and certificates for staff.
    • Ensure all required and appropriate paperwork is filed
  • Contribute to a positive morale in the program
  • Develop positive, professional relationships with coworkers
  • Support new employees/volunteers by explaining the program and policies and procedures
  • Follow and ensure compliance of all Child Safety policies and procedures
  • Ensure HIPPA, WAC guidelines, contract, licensing and local policy and procedures compliance
  • Model appropriate social and interpersonal behaviors for youth
  • Comply with youth disciplinary guidelines
  • Properly implement behavior management (de-escalation and restraint)
  • Assist in planning activities and participating when necessary
    • Manage youth transportation needs; HEART Program, school bus schedule and off site needs
    • Accompany youth to school and appointments as needed (driving, riding or walking)
  • Ensure the safety of all children in care
  • Administer medications to youth and document daily
  • Complete intake and discharge paperwork, when needed
  • Communicate (and document) with caseworkers and other agencies regarding youth in care
    • Ensure repair and supply requests are communicated as required
    • Conduct and/or oversee monthly fire drills; report written results to the Program Manager
    • Maintain facility security by ensuring windows and doors are locked; report any security concerns
    • Clean the facility and do laundry when needed
    • Assist with snow removal when necessary
  • Work different shifts on occasion
    • All other duties as assigned
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or continuous basis
  • Grasp, push, pull, objects such as files, file cabinet drawers, carts, doors, and reach overhead
