Baldwin & Shell Construction Company is searching for an Assistant Project Manager who will thrive in our Memphis Team. Our Memphis Division Team handles general commercial construction, construction management, and design-build delivery projects of all sizes throughout western Tennessee and northwest Mississippi. The Memphis team specializes in higher education, K-12, healthcare, retail, restaurants & tenant improvements. The Assistant Project Manager (APM) plays a key management role in the organization and implementation of the project from start to finish. The APM is responsible for assisting the Project Manager on the preparation and execution of all contract documents with owners and vendors. The APM plays a role in the responsibility for all materials, scheduling and cost control of the projects assigned. The APM may be responsible for running small projects. The APM reports directly to the Project Manager or Senior Project Manager. Responsibilities:
- Change order management: Quantity survey, obtaining Subcontractor quotes and prepare cost estimates on changes for PM to review.
- Take and catalog jobsite photographs.
- Review specifications and oversee set up submittal log in Procore.
- Materials Management - Ensure progression of submittals, shop drawings, and expediting of material deliveries. Final review submittals/Shops.
- Oversee the review and management of RFIs.
- Oversee the management and updating of digital and hard copy construction plans.
- Ensure that the work is being built to the most up to date drawings, specs., addendum, standards, etc.
- Work with the Project Manager and Superintendent to perform on-site quality control reviews and ensure adherence to project specifications.
- Preparation of weekly schedule updates and engage in LEAN construction planning.
- Assist PM in monitoring project cost, subcontractor/supplier pay requests.
- Perform cost projections independently for PM review and discussion.
- Research and problem solve financial cost issues using all the software platforms to confirm information.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Have at least one (1) year of Assistant Project Management experience in commercial construction.
- Have at least three (3) years' experience in commercial construction.
- Be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint and have advanced knowledge of Project Management software.
- Be able to read construction drawings & blueprints accurately.
- Have strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Have highly developed organizational and time management abilities.
- Have strong financial skills to develop, track, and analyze project budgets.
- Be willing to learn and expand your knowledge continuously.
- Be able to pass a background check and pre-employment drug test.
- Pursuant to the Arkansas Medical Marijuana Act 593, this position is a designated safety-sensitive position according to Baldwin & Shell standards and processes.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Procore, Vista, Docuware, Bluebeam and Microsoft Project preferred but not required.
