JOB PURPOSE The Maker Space / STEAM Lab Assistant and Project Manager works with the Associate Director of Innovation and teachers in the primary and middle schools in the overall day to day operation of the AIS FabLab (Maker Space / STEAM lab) to the deliver the schools STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Mathematics) program, which includes hands-on, project-based and inquiry learning experiences for young learners to explore interdisciplinary STEAM topics. This position also assists with the administrative tasks associated with managing projects in the Innovation & Research department. Strong candidates will be energetic, organized, and passionate about STEM and technology, while also being dedicated to the development of students critical thinking skills. Position Title: Maker Space / STEAM Fab Lab Assistant and Project Manager Division: Innovation & Research FLSA: Non-Exempt Reports to: Director of Innovation Starting Date: Immediately RESPONSIBILITIES Assists in the overall day to day operation of the AIS FabLab (Maker Space / STEAM Lab) Assists in the planning and the delivery of the STEAM program: coordinating and logistics planning of hands-on, inquiry-based STEAM learning experiences Promotes and coordinates cross-disciplinary opportunities in the AIS FabLab Provide service in a pleasant, helpful and effective manner to AIS students, faculty and other members of the AIS community Organizes and maintains the AIS FabLab in a clean, safe and orderly condition Optimizes and prepares the use of the AIS Fablab and equipment for student and class projects Assists with circulation of AIS FabLab equipment and materials including but not limited to the loan, return, reservation, and weeding of materials Assists in the development and creation of displays and announcements to encourage AIS FabLab usage Performs clerical duties (i.e. scheduling, digital communication, ordering, labeling equipment and materials) Assists teachers and students in locating and selecting appropriate materials for STEAM-related projects Maintains appropriate safety and behavior of students Demonstrates ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about FabLab patrons Performs such other duties as are consistent with the position and assigned by the Associate Director of Innovation and Directors of Innovation Participates in professional learning activities which align with school and Innovation improvement goals Participates in professional learning activities designed to enhance technology use and STEAM learning skills Participates in staff development opportunities provided by the school REQUIREMENTS Associate Degree, Bachelor degree or equivalent Proficiency in English or English and one or more languages Experience with and knowledgeable about technology and hands-on learning experiences for children A commitment to equity and inclusion Enjoys working with students, staff and parents in an educational setting Has strong computer skills and familiarity with Google applications Must be able to stand for extended periods of time, bend, squat, reach and lift, carry, push or pull light weights Able to work in a team environment Able to follow written and verbal instructions and organize materials alphabetically and numerically with speed and accuracy Able to maintain confidentiality Able to prioritize tasks and to adjust to work assignments and/or schedule changes Demonstrates a positive attitude toward work assignments Accepts responsibility for work assigned Accepts constructive criticism KEY ROLE COMPETENCIES Adaptability Builds Relationships and Rapport Caring Collaborative Creative and critical thinking Inspiring Learner Seeks Feedback Self-motivated Strong communication and organizational skills TO BE CONSIDERED To be considered for the above-mentioned position, please submit the following items through our online career site : a letter of interest, resume, and email and phone contact information for three professional references with at least one being supervisory in nature by the stipulated deadline.
