The Assistant Project Manager will work closely with a team of staff engineers and scientists on challenging and exciting projects largely across the State of Vermont with some throughout New England. Do you thrive with a range of interesting assignments?Essential Functions - What You Will DoDevelops independence necessary to grow into project management role by intentionally pursuing Project Manager competencies.May begin to focus on a technical expert role by intentionally pursuing technical specialty competencies.Coordinates the technical design tasks within a project.May lead complex/innovative field sample and data collection, and/or observation and documentation of complex construction processes.Willingly takes on new, unfamiliar technical tasks and methods as needed, and seeks to master them.Demonstrates competency in most conventional aspects of the subject matter or the functional area of assignments.Independently performs routine assignments and receives instructions on more complex assignments.Assists Project Manager with project scoping, scheduling, coordination, and invoicing.Rarely makes errors or misses deadlines even when conditions are less than ideal.Focuses on meeting and exceeding internal and external client expectations.Holds the team accountable for meeting/exceeding project expectations.Deliver value! Do you strive for excellence and like to help others succeed?Competencies - What We Are Looking ForMinimum of six years relevant experience and a BS in Civil Engineering (Geotechnical Focus) or Geology or five years relevant experience and a MS in Civil Engineering (Geotechnical Focus) or Geology.Possess or be working toward Professional Engineering or Professional Geologist Licensure.Knowledgeable with subsurface evaluations, slope stability analysis, shallow and deep foundation design, and retaining wall design.Strong organizational and time management skills combined with the flexibility to work with shifting priorities.Client-service orientation with the ability to anticipate needs and deliver to meet expectations.Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Ability to communicate clearly, effectively, and strategically with all levels of management and employees.Work well as a team member, with a collaborative communication style.Working Conditions / Physical DemandsAttendance as documented in the Work Arrangement Agreement is required.Requires sitting, walking and, at times, bending and prolonged standing.Must be able to visit project sites and use heavy field equipment, power tools, and ladders as required.The work requires both indoor and outdoor activity in temperatures ranging from moderate to extreme cold or hot and other weather conditions.Must be able to wear and work in personal protective equipment as required.Substantial repetitive motions of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers is required.Close visual acuity is required to perform activities such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures, transcribing, viewing a computer terminal, and extensive reading.Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.Reach your potential!
