This role oversees the progress of projects assigned to the Communications Department to further agency outreach to stakeholders, including organizing the accessibility of relevant materials through translations and plain language messaging to reinforce OPWDD's commitment to implementing cultural and linguistic competence in the agency's messaging. Duties include, but are not limited to the following:•The Deputy Director of Communications, External Outreach and Special Projects is responsible for supervising and tracking Communications Department-led projects and other divisional projects that require Communications Department input. •Serves as the liaison and project lead for the `More Than Work' marketing and recruitment campaign, including initial approval of new content and digital social media strategy and proposed audience targeting with final sign-off by the Communications Director. •Assist in drafting and/or approving stakeholder messaging and materials for new and existing agency programs and initiatives. •Assist in the creation and implementation of Communications and Public Affairs promotions and initiatives as needed.•Leads communications office involvement in OPWDD program and policy initiatives like the agency's American Rescue Plan Act projects, Access Rule Website Transparency Project, development and release of the Five-Year Strategic Plan and other important initiatives. •Supervises other staff in the execution of all external messaging goals. •Participates in event planning and oversight, including the annual Get Outdoors and Get Together Day event, a partnership event with NYS Parks and DEC.
