The individual selected to fill this vacancy will be given a provisional appointment and will be required to participate in the next Civil Service Examination for this title. A qualified applicant may be provisionally appointed and serve in the position until a Civil Service Examination is administered and an appropriate eligible list can be established to make a permanent appointment in accordance with the Civil Service Rule of Three. CITY RESIDENCY WILL BE REQUIRED WITHIN ONE YEAR OF HIRE. Typical Work Activities
- Prepares bid advertisements;
- Assists in receiving, opening, tabulating, posting, reviewing, and awarding public bids;
- Prepares and tracks all incoming revenue and all out-going refunds and direct pays;
- Prepares weekly bid logs and advertising logs;
- Manages office supply processes, ordering and maintaining;
- Responds to bidders orally and in writing to ensure contractual agreements are met in a timely manner;
- Prepares correspondence for relevant files;
- Assists with clerical and related administrative tasks within the bureau;
- Gathers and compiles data for narrative and numerical reports.
Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or G.E.D., PLUS: A. An Associate's Degree in secretarial science, office technology, or related field AND one (1) year of clerical experience which included word processing and entering data into apersonalcomputerAND six (6) months of experience which included purchasing office supplies, copier supplies, cleaning supplies, or temporary staffing services;* ORB. Two (2) years of clerical AND purchasing experience as defined in A.* *These work experiences may have been obtained either concurrently or separately.
