The City of Fayetteville's Parks, Recreation and Maintenance department is currently recruiting for an Assistant Recreation Center Supervisor to perform a variety of paraprofessional duties to assist in planning, organizing and conducting a wide variety of activities, operations and programs in support of an assigned recreation center; and to perform a variety of technical tasks relative to assigned area of responsibility. Applicants with a Therapeutic Recreation Certification are preferred.
* Assist with the coordination and scheduling of recreation classes, activities and special events; assist in the organization, scheduling and implementation of an assigned center's recreational activities; monitor activities and operations both inside and outside of recreation center.
* Participate in the selection and evaluation of assigned center staff; provide staff training and instruction as needed.
* Assist in the implementation of goals and objectives; establish schedules and methods for center management; implement policies and procedures.
* Promote and coordinate specific activities within an assigned recreation center; prepare marketing material including news releases, newsletters, flyers, schedules of events, pamphlets and brochures.
* Answer questions and provide information to the public concerning recreation center programs, activities, policies and procedures; respond to complaints and forward to appropriate staff; solicit input and information from the public regarding center services and operations.
* Receive money for center use; write and issue receipts; balance money.
* Enforce center rules and regulations; explain and post rules.
* Assist with and participate in a variety of recreation programs and activities for youth, adults and seniors in assigned area of expertise including arts, crafts, dance, music, drama, team and individual sports and other activities; prepare, setup and disassemble appropriate materials and equipment for activities.
* Act as and on behalf of the Recreation Center Supervisor in his/her absence.
* Ensure safe work practices; administer first aid to participants and spectators; maintain and file accident reports.

Experience:
None. Experience in recreation programs, education, public service or a related field preferred.
Training:
Equivalent to an Associates degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in recreation or public administration, physical education or a related field.
LICENSING AND CERTIFICATIONS
Required:
Possession of an appropriate valid driver's license and ability to maintain insurability. Possession of or ability to obtain a CPR certification; AED certification; and First Aid certification within one year of hire.
Preferred:
None.
From the time of closing, the selection process is anticipated to last approximately 4 - 6 weeks. The process will consist of a panel interview with the selected candidate being subject to a pre-employment drug screen, background check and driving history check.
