The Assistant Bar Manager will assist the Regent Lounge manager in supervising the service staff and daily operations in The Regent Bar. The Regent Lounge is the lobby bar of the Statler Hotel, offering a modern beverage program and globally inspired small plates with big flavors.

The Assistant Bar Manager Opportunity:
This position will assist the department manager with the daily operation of Regent Lounge. Among your duties:
* You will assist the department managers with the daily operation of Regent Lounge, including: ensuring quality and service standards are met to ensure guest satisfaction, delegating tasks to staff, anticipating operational needs, responding to operational issues, and offering active supervision on-the-floor during work shift.
* You will support our team in offering responsible alcohol service, ensuring that laws and regulations are being followed to keep our guests safe and happy.
* You will assist the department manager with leading and supervising the regular, temporary and student staff of Regent Lounge; including, training, providing direction and feedback, and addressing and reporting performance issues.
* You will support the hotel's role as a learning laboratory for students by providing a quality, career-related work experience for students and participating in educational-related activities with the Hotel School's faculty and students. You will provide mentoring support for participants in the Hotel Leadership Development Program and the Cornell Hospitality Internship Program.
* Other duties will include: attend and participate in college, hotel and departmental meetings; assist other operational areas of the hotel as needed, conduct monthly beverage inventory and transfers; communicate with hotel maintenance and housekeeping for facility maintenance, repair and cleaning needs, submit work orders as necessary.
What we are looking for in an Assistant Bar Manager:
We are seeking candidates who have the right combination of education, food & beverage work experience, and bar management skills to be an effective, inspirational leader.
* Associates Degree and three to four years' experience working in restaurants, bars or clubs required.
* Must have a strong foundational knowledge and current awareness of trends in restaurant, lounge and bar service.
* A Statler Manager should be a highly motivated, dynamic individual with a professional demeanor and superior customer service skills, indicative of a AAA rated Four Diamond hotel.
* Adaptability and the ability to lead during high volume, busy service is necessary to succeed in this position.
* Basic business computer skills, including Microsoft Office products and restaurant POS systems.
* To be successful, a Statler Manager must have the ability to provide inspirational training, coaching and mentoring to college students in an experiential learning environment. Previous teaching experience, both formal and informal is a plus.
* Open availability, including nights and weekends.
Preferred Qualifications:
* 2+ years experience managing high volume bars or clubs.
* 2+ years experience managing craft cocktail bars.
* 2+ years experience managing upscale restaurants.
* Previous teaching experience, either formal or informal.
* Safe and responsible food and beverage service certifications such as TIPS and ServSafe required prior to or within 60 days of employment.
