The Assistant Regional Director of Donor and Board Advancement serves under the direction of the Regional Director of Donor and Board Advancement to fulfill the FCA vision and pursue the FCA mission by supporting field staff as they develop and implement strategic plans in the area of donor and board development. MINISTERIAL DUTIES These responsibilities are critical to the FCA mission and this position plays a vital role in our ministry. FCA expects all functions and responsibilities outlined below to be carried out with a heart surrendered to serving God as a form of worship.
- Agree with, and abide by, FCA's Christian Community Statement.
- Follow a spiritual rhythm including daily prayer and Bible study to seek the Lord's will for FCA.
- Lead, conduct and provide spiritual leadership for staff, volunteers, coaches and athletes through prayer, Bible study, worship and living by example so they are equipped to serve others.
- Connect to and participate in a local church through worship and weekly involvement.
- Conduct yourself in a manner that affirms biblical standards of conduct in accordance with FCA's Christian beliefs (see FCA's Christian Community Statement) at all times.
BOARD ADVANCEMENT
- Provide assistance to train and coach Directors to recruit, train and develop effective and diverse leadership board chairs and board members who are committed to pray, serve, and give to the ministry.
- Assist Directors as they connect, communicate and care for board members and donors who are serving and giving to the geographical area in various capacities including locally, regionally and organizationally.
- Assist in training staff and boards in maintaining a healthy perspective of cultivating and developing financial resources through relationships, including developing specific strategies surrounding: Automatic Monthly Partners, Recurring Funding Partners, events, major donors, lifetime and legacy giving.
- Help ensure that Directors maintain consistent communication with the board chairs.
- Help lead board chair calls for the region.
- Organize and facilitate board planning retreats.
DONOR ADVANCEMENT
- Connect, communicate and care for existing and prospective financial partners to ensure that the ministry is fully funded. This includes building a Home Team that consists of Automatic Monthly Partners (AMP) and Recurring Funding Partners (RFP).
- Help manage and steward the finances for the assigned area.
- Help initiate and implement key donor experiences for the region.
- Help develop and implement a donor communication plan for the region.
ORGANIZATIONAL SYNERGY
- Establish and execute an annual budget and funding plan by training and developing staff in growing Home Teams, major donors and events.
- Provide assistance to the DBAC who represents the region through serving on the Donor and Board Advancement Team along with other DBACs and support staff to create synergy and provide organizational alignment, clarity, and continuous improvement of donor and board advancement systems, processes, policies and procedures.
- Assist in providing consistent communication regarding all regional, national and global ministry initiatives and updates to assure clarity and alignment.
- Assist in assessing and implementing potential new processes.
- Provide key input to the DBAC for the national/global advisory teams and task forces.
- Provide clear, precise information on all donor and board advancement initiatives and updates in order to drive to regional clarity and organizational alignment.
- Maintain current knowledge and expertise on key FCA print and digital resources available to equip field staff to support ministry to donors and boards. Assess emerging resources in region for possible broader use.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in Donor & Board, with a proven track record of securing gifts of $5,000 or more.
- Strong background in faith-based fundraising, with a deep understanding of how to integrate faith into donor engagement and cultivation.
- Experience working on capital campaigns is preferred but not required.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with a passion for building long-term relationships with donors.
- Self-motivated, with the ability to work independently while also collaborating with other FCA staff.
- Strong alignment with FCA's mission, values, and vision to impact the world through coaches and athletes.
Travel Requirements
- While the role will be primarily based in Portland, the Assistant Regional Director of Donor and Board may need to travel within the Pacific Northwest region as needed for donor meetings and events.
