Assistant Registrar
The Assistant Registrar assists with maintaining the quality and content of all animal records. These include daily animal care records, animal transactions, animal inventories, compliance, licensing, and permitting documents. The Assistant Registrar helps to ensure that all records are consistent with the standards and requirements for accreditation, compliance, and effective planning and management of the animals in the Zoo's care. Additionally, they are responsible for ensuring business continuity in the absence of the Registrar.
A DAY IN THE LIFE OF AN ASSISTANT REGISTRAR AT JBZ
This position will assist in the logistics and preparation of paperwork required for the acquisition and disposition of animals in the Zoo's care. Compile, generate, and distribute as requested and directed institutional data related to animals in the zoo's care, both internally and externally. Assist in training staff in animal record keeping records management and data standards; confirming that daily reporting policies and procedures are followed. All while assisting with the provision of any data necessary for the management of AZA studbooks, AZA accreditation, USDA inspections, and requests from Species Survival Plan and Taxon Advisory Groups.
QUALIFICATIONS FOR AN ASSISTANT REGISTRAR AT JBZ
This position requires a college degree from an accredited institution in natural science, biology, zoology, or a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge of basic collection records management standards and practices. Basic understanding of wildlife laws and regulations specific to exhibition, breeding, and domestic and international transport. A strong attention to detail, basic computer literacy, and demonstrated ability to prioritize and show flexibility with daily responsibilities with minimal guidance.
This position's pay ranges: 16.62 - 19.55 an hour
