About the Role

The Assistant Director plays a crucial role in assisting classroom teachers with implementing the curriculum program, maintaining a safe and healthy learning environment, and providing positive guidance to children.

Responsibilities

  • Assist classroom teacher with planning and implementing curriculum program which reflects observations and goals of each infant.
  • Develop and maintain a safe, nurturing, and healthy learning environment in which infants can learn and grow.
  • Lead and educate children through activities of the day, assuring they have an enjoyable, well-rounded educational experience while providing positive guidance.
  • Participate in parent communication.
  • Assist in meeting infants basic needs (diapers, attention, etc.).
  • Build a positive relationship with each child.
  • Maintain confidentiality of school directives, curriculum, and software.
  • Be familiar with policies and procedures of The Gardner School and State Licensing Agencies.
  • Maintain professional and positive relationships with parents and co-workers.
  • Meet state licensing requirements for education and experience.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Early Childhood Education
  • Twelve months of verified leadership experience working in a child development program
  • Strong understanding of licensing standards
  • Strong organizational skills, computer literacy and the ability to manage multiple tasks
  • Experience building and maintaining relationships with families and staff
  • Capacity to understand and manage school financial duties
  • A combination of infant, toddler, or preschool teaching experience
  • Ability to adjust to lending daily classroom support
  • Intermediate PC skills
  • Possess a valid drivers license
  • Eligible to work in the U.S. without sponsorship

  • Knowledge of general administrative tasks

  • Ability to communicate verbally clearly and effectively and in writing
  • Ability to manage time effectively and efficiently
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Regular and reliable attendance

Preferred Skills

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in licensed childcare
  • One year experience as Assistant Director or supervising a childcare program

Pay range and compensation package

Salary and compensation will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
