Boys & Girls Clubs of Carson's Mission:The Boys & Girls Clubs of Carson (BGCC) offers our young people a safe environment where they can have fun and be themselves, dedicated adult mentors who respect and listen to them, and outcome-based programs that empower youth to become lifelong learners.PRIMARY FUNCTION: Plan, implement and evaluate all programs and activities for members in the five core areas: The Arts, Education & Career Dev., Character & Leadership Dev., Health & Life Skills, and Sports, Fitness & Recreation, with the concern for providing supervision and control over members, supervising staff and volunteers, prepare and monitor program budgets and disciple members when necessary. Maintain all reporting and attendance and work in conjunction with various schools' personnel.KEY ROLES (Essential Job Responsibilities): Leadership •Establish site activities and services that prepare youth for success and create an outcome-driven Club experience that facilitates the achievement of youth development outcomes.•Create a system in which employees can perform at their best by creating clear goals and expectations and conducting annual performance evaluations.•Communicate, interpret, and enforce policies and procedures established by BGCC.Membership Recruitment and Retention •Promote and stimulate program participation by leading and implementing a variety of recruitment, retention and recognition strategies.•Register new members and participate in their Club orientation process.•Provide guidance and promote safety of members, quality in programs and appearance of site at all times.Program Development & Implementation •Assist the Site Coordinator by acting as the second point of contact for site stakeholders such as parents and administrators.•Effectively plan, organize and implement a range of program services and activities for members.•Evaluate opportunities to improve Club program and make recommendations concerning the development of programs, members, and staff.•Analyze and review average daily attendance and frequency of attendance and develop and implement strategies to increase membership and attendance.•Provide and/or submit program reports regarding finance, attendance, safety, etc.•Oversee that all supplies are stocked and in good condition, ordering and purchasing supplies and maintain an organized and tidy work area, working within the allocated budget.•Recruit, train, support and evaluate staff and volunteers.•Collaborate with community organizations to enhance/expand programs.•Develop and implement systems for family involvement/engagement.•Monitor curriculum development and facilitation to ensure that all services offered through the Club facilitate achievement of BGCC program goals and outcomes.•Ensure facilities are safe, clean, and sanitary for youth and visitors.•Work with staff and members to correct unsafe behaviors constructively, ensure emergency procedures are followed, and take actions to prevent incidents.Finance •Control expenditures against budget. •Initiate program adjustments based on current budget performance.•Assist in leveraging funds to supplement the program.Supervision •Conduct site observations, evaluate and complete detailed reports in sites overall program and staffing performance•Effectively delegates responsibilities to team members. •Ensure a productive work environment by scheduling regular staff meetings and one-on-one staff coaching•Approve staff timesheets, expense reports, mileage reports, leave requests, and other employee action forms.ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES: •Ensure that daily schedule of activities is followed.•Check sign-in and sign-out sheets daily.•Attend trainings in the area of youth development.•Participation or leading special programs and/or events.•Collect and analyze data to guide program direction.•Perform other related duties as assigned.•May be required to drive youth in club vehicle for program related events. RELATIONSHIPS: Internal: Maintains close, daily contact with Club staff (professional and volunteer), Club members, and supervisor to receive/provide information, discuss issues, explain guidelines/ instructions; instruct; and advise/counsel. External: Maintains contact with external community groups, schools, members' parents and others to assist in resolving problems. RequirementsREQUIRED SKILLS:•Minimum of two years of college experience or Working towards a College Degree•Knowledge of youth development and curriculum development strategies to meet the needs of after school program members.•Strong initiative and ability to solve problems.•Ability to communicate effectively with young people from diverse backgrounds, ages 6-18 as well as a range of other organizational personnel in a courteous and professional manner.•Highly motivated and dedicated to the organizational mission.•Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential.•Experience in program development and implementation.•Highly organized and motivated, with the ability to multi-task and meet deadlines.•Working knowledge of budget preparation, control, and management.•Self-directed, enthusiastic, reliable and creative.•Must be able to work a flexible schedule, some evening and weekend hours.•Mandatory CPR and First Aid Certifications and TB clearance•Must be fully vaccinated •Proficient in Microsoft Office.ENVIRONMENT AND WORKING CONDITIONS:Tasks are regularly performed with moderate exposure to environmental conditions such as dirt, dust, pollen, odors, wetness, humidity, rain, fumes, and temperature and noise extremes. PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS: Tasks that involve the ability to exert moderate physical effort, typically involving some combination of standing for long periods of time, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling, and which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling of objects and materials of moderate weight.
