PRIMARY PURPOSE:
To support teaching and administrative staff in meeting the needs of students in Specials classes such as PE, Art, and Music at the Elementary Level
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Certification
Associate's Degree or minimum of 48 college credits
Paraprofessional Certification for Educational Aide or eligible for certification
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Ability to work well with children
Ability to communicate effectively
Proficient skills in typing, word processing, and file maintenance
Effective communication and interpersonal skills
Basic math skills
Basic knowledge in Microsoft Office
Preferred Experience:
Previous successful experience working with children
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
Instructional Support
* Perform routine clerical duties
* Assist with the administration and scoring of tests and assignments
* Help maintain a neat and orderly classroom
* Assist in the use, care, and maintenance of technology, athletic, and other equipment.
* Organize and manage the routine work activities in the physical education office.
* Compile, prepare, and submit various reports for the physical education office.
* Provide orientation and assistance to substitute teachers.
* Coordinate student's learning needs through classroom teachers
Student Management
* Work directly with students individually or in small groups to conduct instructional exercises assigned by the teacher
* Assist with modifications and/or accommodations for key academic/physical/motor skill concepts
* Assist in supervising students throughout the school day, both inside and outside of the schools
* Keep teacher informed of special needs or problems of individual students

13. Participate in staff development training programs, faculty meetings, and special events, as needed
14. Willingness to receive intensive training in the needs of Elementary students
15. Uphold and enforce school rules, administrative regulations, and state and local board policy
16. Keep informed and comply with all state and district policies and regulations concerning primary job functions.

Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment including personal computer and peripherals
Posture: Prolonged sitting; occasional bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting
