Job Description:

The Multifamily Assistant Superintendent plays a critical role in supporting the Superintendent in managing day-to-day operations of multifamily construction projects. This role involves coordinating and overseeing subcontractors, ensuring that projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. The Assistant Superintendent works closely with the project team, including the Superintendent, Project Manager, and other stakeholders, to ensure successful project delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the Superintendent in daily site operations, including scheduling, material deliveries, and coordination of subcontractors.
  • Ensure adherence to safety protocols and maintain a safe work environment.
  • Monitor the work of subcontractors to ensure compliance with project specifications, building codes, and quality standards.
  • Communicate with subcontractors and suppliers to resolve any issues that may arise during construction.
  • Participate in project meetings, providing updates on progress and identifying any potential delays or challenges.
  • Maintain accurate records of daily site activities, including work performed, materials used, and any issues encountered.
  • Assist in preparing and submitting reports to the Superintendent and Project Manager as required.
  • Ensure that all necessary permits and inspections are obtained and documented.

Qualifications:

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in construction management or a related field is preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 1-3 years of experience in construction, with a focus on multifamily projects. Previous experience in a supervisory or assistant superintendent role is a plus.
  • Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of construction processes, building codes, and safety regulations. Proficiency in construction management software and tools.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills. Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team.
  • Certifications: OSHA 30-hour certification, First Aid/CPR, and other relevant certifications are preferred.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to work on a construction site, including standing, walking, climbing ladders, and lifting materials as needed.
  • Must be able to work in various weather conditions.

Working Conditions:

  • This position requires working on active construction sites, which may involve exposure to loud noises, dust, and heavy equipment.
  • The work schedule may include weekends and extended hours to meet project deadlines.
