- Provides a warm, nurturing classroom environment for children.
- Provides a welcoming environment for parents and families.
- Follows the procedure and schedule set forth by the staff in the classroom.
- Assists in the execution of planned activities and overall classroom management.
- Carries out the mission set forth by the Diane Lindner-Goldberg Child Care Institute and Hofstra University.
- Fulfills the role of the classroom teacher in his/her absence.
- Demonstrates understanding and respect for children, their developmental needs, and interests, respect for a child's family and culture.
- Displays commitment of continued professional development.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree required.
- At least 1 - 2 years related experience.
- Prior experience working with young children in a childcare setting.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or Elementary Education with an Early Childhood Education component/specialization preferred.
- Pursuit of a Master's degree in Early Childhood Education.
- Experience working in a National Association for the Education of the Young Children (NAEYC) Accredited childcare center a plus.
- Demonstrated knowledge of the NAEC Accreditation Standards, NAEYC Accreditation process and Teaching Strategies Creative Curriculum.
- Work experience with infants and toddlers.
