Job Title: Assistant Teacher
Reports to: Teacher or Principal
Receives Guidance From: Teacher, Principal
Job Purpose: To provide assistance in the instruction of basic skills and to assure each student the opportunity to take advantage of all available resources in the classroom.
Duties and Responsibilities: - Substitute in classrooms as needed, following lesson plans and maintaining a positive learning environment
- Assist with duties related to testing, including setup, organization, and maintaining a quiet, supportive environment
- Perform various office tasks including, answering phones, filing, copying
- Supervise students in credit recovery programs, ensuring adherence to program guidelines and helping them stay focused
- This position requires working both in classrooms and in office environments, with frequent interaction with students, teachers, and administrative staff
- Participate in staff development to be equipped with the skills required to assist teachers in carrying out district initiatives
- Marintain and accept responsibility for any district owned fixed asset items assigned to employee and ensure appropriate use by following district policies for acceptable use
- Undergo periodic evaluations according to state and board policy procedures
- Maintain confidentiality
- Regular, dependable, punctual, in person attendance is an essential function of this position
- Perform such other and not specifically enumerated duties as may be requested by the Board of Education, superintendent, administrator, director, or established by district policy
Qualifications: Education level: Associates degree or higher from an accredited college. Minimum of 48 hours of college credit from an accredited college or pass a Work Keys test as determined by the Mississippi Department of Education.
