Job TitleAssistant Teaching ProfessorDepartmentDragonfly ProgramWorker TypeRegularPay TypeSalarySalary will be commensurate with the level of the position, education, and experience.Benefit EligibleYesScreening Date2024-12-16Job Description SummaryAssistant Teaching Professor (non-tenure track) of Biology in Ecology and Community-Based Conservation to teach four courses per semester in ecology, environmental biology, conservation biology, community engagement in science, and evolutionary biology. Duties also include advising undergraduates and Project Dragonfly graduate students and service to the university. This 9-month appointment is a non-tenure track position but is renewable with opportunities for promotion.Job DescriptionThe Assistant Teaching Professor will teach courses delivered online for Project Dragonfly graduate students and in-person lecture classes on the Oxford, Ohio, campus for undergraduate students. In addition to academic-year duties, the Assistant Teaching Professor may be eligible to instruct summer online courses or Earth Expeditions field courses in Africa, Asia, Australia, or the Americas. Service duties with Project Dragonfly include work on recruitment, curricular development, course coordination, and serving on the Dragonfly Graduate Committee. Advising duties would include guiding undergraduates and graduate students in course planning and scheduling. Service to the institution would include involvement in departmental and university committees. Minimum Qualifications:Required: Ph.D. in Biology, Ecology, Anthropology (Biological), or closely related field by date of appointment.Consideration may be given to applicants with experience in community-based conservation, advancing diverse and inclusive public engagement in science, learning across formal and informal settings, ethnoecology, or international research; experience with web-based courses and instruction; familiarity with collaborative/instructional tools such as Zoom, Skype, Google apps, and creation of video/instructional media.Additional Position Information (if applicable)Miami is a top-ranked public university for its commitment to excellence in both undergraduate and graduate education.
