Position Summary

Job Summary

The Assistant Track and Field coach is a part-time position that reports to the Head Coach. The successful candidate will be responsible to assist the head coach in all aspects of the program, including recruitment of qualified student-athletes; assisting in practice sessions and in-game duties; counseling of student-athletes in a positive manner; and adhering to all NCAA, conference and university rules and regulations. This position is defined as a non-exempt position under FLSA regulations.

Specific Responsibilities

* Coach student-athletes

* Assist in meet management

* Identify and recruit qualified prospective student-athletes

* Assist with designing pre-season, in-season and off-season training schedules

* Maintain working knowledge of NCAA, Landmark Conference, and Susquehanna University policies and procedures

* Other duties as assigned by the Head Coach or Director of Athletics

Required Qualifications

Education

Bachelor's Degree required. Valid driver's license is required.

Experience

3-5 years of coaching or competitive collegiate experience in track & field.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

Must have excellent interpersonal skills and be able to build strong collaborative relationships. Requires ability to multi-task and attend to detail. Demonstrates excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work with current students and parents, prospective students and parents, and staff and faculty in a professional manner. Ability to use technology and equipment specific to the sport.

Additional Requirements

This role is identified as one that includes significant interaction with students and/or campus activities, and/or has oversight for disciplinary procedures. Therefore, you are considered a Campus Security Authority (CSA) and required to report any Clery Act crime disclosed to you and remain compliant with annual CSA training requirements. This position requires a valid driver's license, the ability to drive and qualify under the university's insurance carrier when driving a university and/or leased vehicle. CPR, AED and First Aid certification is preferred.

Physical Demand

Lifting, Pulling, pushing: Exert up to 50 pounds for force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Talking: Frequently convey detailed or important instructions and ideas accurately, loudly, or quickly.
