Position Overview
The Division of Developmental Disabilities is seeking to hire a Mental Health Administrator II for the Shapiro Center located in Kankakee, Illinois to serve as the Assistant Unit Director to coordinate the overall function of the delivery of programs and services for individuals in an assigned unit. Supervises and directs activities of treatment teams to ensure individuals health/medical needs are met; directs treatment teams in formulating and implementing treatment programs for assigned individuals. Serves as a member of the Interdisciplinary Team to ensure compliance with applicable department rules and regulations, Public Health standards, accreditation standards, Shapiro and Department policies, procedures, forms and guidelines.
Essential Functions
* Serves as the Assistant Unit Director for the Shapiro Center.
* Serves as working supervisor.
* Assists higher level administrators on administrative matters and program development and evaluations.
* Serves as a member of the Interdisciplinary Team to ensure compliance with applicable department rules and regulations, Public Health standards, accreditation standards, Shapiro and Department policies, procedures, forms and guidelines.
* Reviews forms, logs and other reports ensuring information is accurate and is submitted in a timely manner.
* Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
Minimum Qualifications
* Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to either 1) a master's degree in administration, education or the behavioral sciences and one (1) year of professional experience in or applicable to the provision of therapeutic patient services for persons with mental illness or intellectual disabilities and successful completion of a comprehensive training program at the Mental Health Administrator Trainee level or 2) one (1) year of administrative experience in or applicable to the planning, formulation and implementation of therapeutic and rehabilitative treatment programs.
Preferred Qualifications
* Three (3) years of professional experience directing and guiding the activities and services of a direct care program for intellectually disabled individuals for a public or private organization.
* Three (3) years of professional experience monitoring implementation programs, evaluating the plans effectiveness.
* Three (3) years of professional experience developing and implementing policy impacting services for a public or private organization.
* Three (3) years of professional supervisory experience assigning and reviewing work, providing guidance and training staff.
* Three (3) years of professional experience initiating corrective action to assure quality of services to individuals is in compliance with applicable department rules and regulations, Public Health Standards, accreditation standards, policies and procedures, forms and guidelines.
* Three (3) years of experience communicating effectively both orally and in writing.

* Requires the ability to assist with emergency situations after business hours, weekends and holidays.
* Requires the ability to serve as Administrator on Duty (AOD) on a rotation basis.
* Requires the ability to physically restrain individuals as necessary to prevent injury to individual or others.
* Requires the ability to utilize office equipment, including personal computers.
* Requires the ability to travel in the performance of job duties.
* Requires ability to pass the IDHS background check.
* Requires ability to pass a drug screen for drugs prohibited from recreational use under Illinois Law.
Work Hours: 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM M-F with Sat/Sun off; work 1 early, 1 late, and 1 weekend day per month
Early shift choice of 6:00 AM- 2:30 PM or 6:30 AM- 3:00 PM Late Shift choice of 12:00PM- 8:30 PM, 12:30 PM-9:00 PM, 1:00 PM- 9:30 PM, 1:30-10:00 PM
