Details at www.duq.edu/benefits Location: Enrollment Management Group Position Status: Full-time Hours: Varied Position Number: 221424/10-988 FLSA Status: ExemptPOSITIONSUMMARY:Reporting to the Senior Vice President for Enrollment Management, theAssistant Vice President leads the Admissions and Recruitment team in thestrategic direction as well as in the complex daily operations.Key elements of theposition include being proactive, strategic and deadline-oriented in a complexorganization. The position requires independent judgement,project management,diligence, attention to detail, maintaining cross-functional relationships andthe ability to develop strategy from research and analytics. The Assistant Vice President must remaincurrent on best practices in higher education enrollment, admissions andfinancial aid.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Collaborates with the Senior Vice President for theEnrollment Management Group and the EMG Leadership team to develop andimplement the institution's enrollment strategy. Leads the University Admissions andRecruitment team in the strategic direction and goal setting as well as in thecomplex daily operations to ensure meeting or exceeding goals.Researches, analyzes, and resolvesquestions and/or requests related to admissions such as application anddecision status, documentation, program requirements and make admission andscholarship determination. Consistently monitors enrollmenttargets and propose strategies to accommodate findings and ensure success.In collaboration with AVP offinancial aid, supervises scholarships and recruitment oriented financial aid. Monitorsbudgets, discount rates and awarding strategies. Ensures staff and university-wideconstituencies understand and adhere to admission policies and procedures.Ensures office staff providesexemplary service to students, faculty, and staff by effectively communicatingpolicies, procedures, and students' rights and responsibilities in a helpful,considerate and timely manner.Works collaboratively to developpartnerships with Deans, department chairs and school-based enrollment staffand liaisons to ensure an understanding of admissions policies, guidelines andenrollment targets.Provides strategic leadership anddevelops appropriate recommendations for the implementation of communicationsand marketing tactics.Provides strategic leadership anddevelops appropriate recommendations for the implementation of technology andapplications in support of enrollment services.Oversees the timely development andaccuracy of reports of activities, regulatory reports and awards. This includespreparing reports and presentations for key university academic andadministrative leaders.Manages recruitment vendorrelations.Ensures compliance with federal,state and accrediting bodies including Middle States Commission on HigherEducation, PA Department of Education and the Higher Education Opportunity Act.Ensures results through effectiveand quality visit experiences as led by admissions staff.Develops and maintains and improves externalrelations with influencer groups such as guidance counselors, career servicesdirectors, HR Directors, Academic advisors and other constituents at community-colleges and other colleges and universities to develop articulationagreements, tuition benefits programs and other relations that enhanceenrollment and reputation.Liaison torepresentatives from various federal, state and institutional agencies andcommittees.Participates and takes leading andsupportive roles with internal constituencies for improving the reputation andeffectiveness of EMG such as the retention steering committee, facultycommittees, Graduate council, etc.Performs other related duties asassigned by the Senior Vice President for Enrollment Management. Attends andassists with various admissions events (i.e., Fall Open House, etc.). NOTE: Mandatoryadmissions recruitment events are held outdoors (Duquesnefest, FOH, etc.)Completes other duties as assigned.SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:Supervises the work of others, including planning, assigning,scheduling and reviewing work, ensuring quality standards. Is responsible forhiring, terminating, training and developing, reviewing performance andadministering corrective action for staff. Plans organizational structure andjob content. Approximately 8 or more full time employees and 1 part timeemployee.REQUIREMENTS:Minimum qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Liberal Arts and Sciences, Higher Education, PublicPolicy, business systems, computer science, technology, marketing automation orrelated field from an accredited institution and 5-8 years of progressivelyresponsible experience.At least five years ofprogressive managerial responsibility in Financial Aid or enrollment andadmissions operations, accreditation processes, or equivalent broad knowledgeof all areas within Financial Aid regulations and admissions policies.Experience reviewing / auditing financial aid files. Financial Aid/admissions/enrollmentexperience in an educational environment is required.Current Valid Driver'slicense in good standing.Preferred qualifications: MBA, Master's degree in public policy and administration, higher education,business systems, computer science, technology, marketing solutions or relatedfield from an accredited institution.Experience in with Banner,Technolutions Slate systems, Capture Behavioral intelligence platforms,CampusLogic, and/or EAB marketed applications systems preferred.Proficiency with state of the art technology, PC,Microsoft Office tools, email and the Internet with the ability to learn avariety of new technology systems; Experience with Slate and Banner Student andFinancial Aid modules preferred.Alternately, thesuccessful candidate may possess any equivalent combination of experience andtraining, which provides the knowledge, skills and abilities required toperform the essential job functions. This includes, but is not limited to, thefollowing: Progressivemanagerial experience providing the knowledge, skills and abilities required toperform the essential job functions may substitute the preferred education.This experience includes but is not limited to working in higher educationadmissions and/or related recruitment departments and scheduling.Demonstrated leadership and diplomatic and projectmanagement skills with the ability to manage numerous tasks at once in anenvironment with changing priorities.Extensive knowledge of net revenue management andprospect management systems in a private tuition driven institution.Ability to take a hands-on approach to staffmanagement with a results-oriented and proactive attitude, and creativeresource utilization.Strong communication skills, both oral and writtenproviding the ability to effectively communicate with multiple internal andexternal constituents.Proactive, strategic, analytical and deadline-orientedin a complex organization.Ability and willingness to work outside of regularbusiness hours and some weekends during peak enrollment periods. Ability to prepare and maintain confidential dataindependently in accordance with established policies and procedures andexercise consistent discretion.A broad understanding of higher education processesand procedures, including shared governance, strategic planning, resourceallocation and budget management.Membership and active engagement inappropriate national student service organizations, such as NACAC, NACADA,PACAC, NACUBO and AACRAO, NASFAA.Considerable knowledge of the laws, regulations, andpolicies governing the operations of the University.Ability to create and maintain complex records andfiles.Sensitivity to the needs of each individual to betreated with dignity and respect as related to diversity in general and theMission of the University specifically; and the ability to establish andmaintain effective working relationships with the University Community.Commitment to theUniversity's values of diversity, equity and inclusion, and recognition of theimportance of treating each individual with dignity and respect consistent withthe University's Mission.
