Job DetailsJob LocationColumbia College - Columbia, SCPosition TypeFull TimeDescriptionJOB SUMMARYThe Assistant Vice President for Information Technology provides executive-level strategic planning, leadership, operation, and maintenance for all areas of information technology services, projects, and partnerships of the College, including but not limited to oversight of academic and administrative computing, system interfaces and security, telecommunications, managing various hardware, software and cloud-based technologies and storage services, application development and support, IT operations, shared services, network operations, help desk support services for faculty, staff and students, policy development and publication, and all other matters related to computer technology; oversees IT disaster recovery operations, mobile technologies, digital infrastructure, college data centers, computer labs, cybersecurity, and IT policies and strategic plans. The AVP for Information Technology collaborates closely with the Senior Leadership Team and other institutional leaders and serves as a strategic advisor on all aspects of computer technology-related projects; and performs related work as assigned. This position reports to the Chief Financial Officer/Chief Operations Officer (CFO/COO) for the Department of Finance and Administration. QualificationsESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:Provides executive-level strategic planning, leadership, operation, and maintenance for all areas of information technology services, projects, and partnerships of the College.Oversees academic and administrative computing, system interfaces and security, telecommunications, hardware, software and cloud-based technologies and storage services, application development and support, IT operations, shared services, network operations, and help desk support services for faculty, staff and students.Oversees the management of IT disaster recovery operations, mobile technologies, digital infrastructure, college data centers, computer labs, cybersecurity, and IT policies and strategic plans.Oversees the strategic planning, implementation, and maintenance of the College's information technology systems and infrastructure, aligning technology initiatives with the College's goals and objectives to drive innovation, modernization, growth, and efficiency.Remains current on industry best practices and regulatory compliance requirements and implements best practices for IT operations by continuously evaluating the effectiveness of the ERP and other technology systems to enhance campus services and efficiency.Establishes and enforces effective policies, standards, and procedures to ensure access, security, integrity, and availability of information.Develops and manages the IT budget to optimize resource allocation and attain financial goals.Identifies and mitigates IT-related risks, including cybersecurity threats, data breaches, and system failures.Develops and implements disaster recovery and business continuity plans to respond and recover from IT disruptions.Provides leadership, direction, and assistance in formulating and developing long-range plans for academic technology, telecommunications, and information networks.Leads the development and management of system-wide information security plans with administrative, technical, and physical safeguards.Works closely with the Marketing Team to ensure that the College's internet, video, social media and cloud-supported technologies meet the communication needs of the College.Assists management with special projects and reports as needed.Instills a culture of innovation, teamwork, customer solutions and continuous improvement within the department by expanding professional knowledge through training, classes, and seminars.Performs other related duties as assigned. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS TO PERFORM WORK: Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, computer information systems, computer engineering or closely related field; Master's degree preferred.Eight (8) years of professional experience in management of information technology with demonstrated leadership and training skills, preferably within a higher education, governmental, or non-profit environment. Must have three (3) years of supervisory experience. Experience in a higher education setting using online and physical classroom teaching methodology preferred.Must have knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, utilizing Outlook, Word, Excel and Microsoft Teams, including computing, networking, course management, sharepoint, web content management, and instructional technologies systems is highly desirable. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:Ability to organize, plan, oversee, manage and prioritize work; strong analytical and interpersonal skills.Knowledge and experience with computing, networking, and instructional technologies systems in a college environment.Ability to analyze problems and develop creative solutions.Ability to work effectively with diverse groups of people at all levels.Ability to deal with sensitive and highly confidential information and skill in handling sensitive situations with discretion.Advanced knowledge of information technology hardware and software, end-user computing devices, server and database systems, and system design.Experience with developments in campus networking such as wireless, voice over IP, video on demand services, security issues and their applicability in the teaching and learning environment.Experience in the analysis, development, and implementation of enterprise level information systems.Knowledge of emerging trends and issues in information technology.Ability to keep accurate written records and prepare reports. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing to subordinates and management. Ability to develop procedures and define actions for specific situations. Ability to supervise and train employees, to include organizing, prioritizing, and scheduling work assignments. PHYSICAL DEMANDS:Requires sedentary work that involves walking, standing, lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling some of the time and involves exerting up to 10 pounds of force on a recurring basis or routine keyboard operations.
