Johns Hopkins University has an over $7 billion annual operating budget and a close to $4 billion five-year capital budget. The University is made up of nine academic divisions, Sheridan Libraries, the Applied Physics Laboratory, and several independent institutes.
We are seeking an Assistant Vice President - Strategy and Analysis ('AVP') who will oversee the Office of the AVP for Strategy & Analysis and directly manage 5 full-time employees. The office works collaboratively across the University to support high-level strategic and financial initiatives and includes the areas of Strategic Initiatives and Reporting & Analysis.
The Strategic Initiatives team is a group of internal experts whose work informs decision-making among senior leadership on a wide range of financial strategy and policy issues. The team works to provide analytic capacity and financial modelling on issues and initiatives of interest to university leadership at the division and university levels.
The Reporting team creates and maintains financial reports, dashboards and other analyses to support the multi-year financial planning of the University. The team also provides analytic capacity and financial modelling expertise on a wide range of strategy and policy issues largely related to philanthropically funded projects and initiatives.
Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer, the AVP is an entrepreneurial, innovative and forward-thinking leader who drives key strategic and financial initiatives within the University. They are adept at identifying growth opportunities, optimizing financial performance, and fostering a culture of data-driven decision-making. The position will manage a portfolio of strategic and financial analysis projects and work with other members of finance and university administration teams to move these projects forward. They will also work collaboratively with senior staff across the university including the Assistant Vice President for Planning & Budget, the Controller, the Deputy Treasurer, the Office of the Executive Vice President, Finance and Administration and Divisional Business Officers, among others.
The ideal candidate has broad strategic, financial, consulting, and analytical experience. Experience in higher education is a plus but not required.
