Winthrop Position Title Assistant Volleyball Coach State Title Assistant Coach State Class Code UH15 State Pay Band Unclassified Annual Salary/Hiring Range $39,125 Job Purpose
Reporting to the Head Coach, the Assistant Coach supports the administration and operation of the Winthrop University Volleyball Program in compliance with NCAA, Big South Conference and university policies, rules and regulations.
Job Summary
* Assists in the daily preparation and coordination of team practices.
* Manages data analytics to assist with scouting activities and preparation of scouting reports.
* Assists with the development of strategic game plans, including offensive and defensive strategies.
* Assist with operations, including team travel, recruiting, equipment, scheduling and budget.
* Coordinates with other coaches to create an inclusive environment.
* Inspires and motivates student-athletes to succeed academically, athletically and professionally.
* Works closely with athletic trainers, academic and student services, and athletic performance staff to monitor the overall progress of the team's student-athletes.
* Assists in recruiting highly skilled student-athletes through video and travel.
* Helps plan and participates in fundraising opportunities, alumni events and community service activities.
Required Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree.
* Coaching experience at the high school, club, collegiate or professional level.
Preferred Qualifications
* At least three years of experience in collegiate coaching.
* Collegiate playing experience.
* Recruiting and volleyball data programs experience.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Summary
Expert knowledge of the sport of volleyball, including offensive and defensive strategies, and coaching techniques. Knowledge of NCAA and Big South policies, rules and regulations and the ability to apply them consistently. Working knowledge of DataVolley, R Programming Language, Power BI and advanced Excel skills. Excellent organizational, communication and leadership skills. Ability to demonstrate and teach sport-specific skills; work a flexible schedule and travel as needed; inspire and motivate student-athletes to succeed athletically, academically and professionally; develop and maintain effective working relationships with faculty, staff, student-athletes, parents and others; and maintain high ethical standards and cultivate an encouraging, inclusive environment.
