Location: Tampa,FL, USA
Under the direction of the Program Director, the Assistant Youth Sports Coach will implement/assist with the provided curriculum to The First Tee of Tampa Bay participants in all programs offered. The Assistant Coach will assist the lead golf instructor on site during programming including Group Lessons, Team, and the P.E. Player program if needed. The Assistant coach will help the lead instructor instill the 9 core values and life lessons of The First Tee. The Assistant Youth Sports Coach will work with the Program Director and Golf & Life Skills Program Lead to provide year-long programming within The First Tee of Tampa Bay. This position will primarily support Saturday programming.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Work and communicate effectively with the kids, parents, and staff.
* Ensure the highest quality of service and level of professionalism by establishing and maintaining a team attitude, order, discipline and encourage good sportsmanship.
* Effectively set up and have proper equipment available.
* Routinely inspects equipment to ensure it is in good working condition before and after use.
* Return equipment upon completion of class and reports repairs/maintenance needed and cleans area as appropriate.
* Report damages, equipment failures or potential safety concerns and returns equipment to proper place after use.
* Ensures safety protocols at all times, reporting accidents or incidents immediately.
* Establish and maintain a professional and positive image and rapport with members and students.
* Perform rescues and emergency procedures in accordance with facility polices and certification requirements.
* Perform additional functions or assume additional responsibilities as needed or as requested by the Program Director or supervisor.
* Engage in positive public relations with participants, members and guest ensuring a positive experience.
* Adheres to the Association operating policies and procedures by operating the programs within the guidelines set forth.
* Follow YMCA and First Tee policies and procedures regarding the safety, health and welfare of members, program participants, guests and staff; responds to emergency situations in accordance to facility policies and certification requirements.
* Attend and actively participate in all trainings, staff meetings/in-services as assigned.
Perform all other duties as assigned.
Education/ Experience Required:
* Prior experience teaching youth, ideally with a First Tee program, is preferred. Experience managing large groups of children is preferred.
* Time Management and Prioritization skills
Certifications/Trainings Required:
* Obtain within 30 days of employment and then maintain current CPR, AED, and First Aid certifications.
* This position requires a valid driver license and will require frequent local travel throughout Hillsborough County.
* Maintain other required certifications as stated in the training matrix.

* Ability to perform all physical aspects of the position, including, but not limited to, leading class, walking, standing, bending, reaching, and lifting.
* Ability to sit and reach, and must be able to move around the work environment.
* Hear noises and distress signals in the program environment, including in the classroom and anywhere around the zone of responsibility.
* Must have flexibility and the ability to adapt to changing circumstances.
* Ability to lift and move a minimum of 30 pounds.
* Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
* Ability to work in a variety of environments, specifically those subject to extreme humidity/dampness, heat and cold.
* The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high.
* This position requires reliable transportation and willing to travel, if needed.
This position may require availability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
