Assistant Zoological Manager
Clyde Peeling's Reptiland is seeking an Assistant Zoological Manager with 3-5 years' experience in caring for reptiles and amphibians. Compensation commensurate with experience, qualifications, skills, training, and education.
Responsibilities:
* Assists the Zoological Manager and keeper staff in all aspects of herpetoculture at Reptiland and offsite at institutions hosting our traveling exhibitions.
* Assists in keeper duties and training.
* Assists the Zoological Manager in certifying keepers in venomous, Komodo dragon, and large constrictor safety protocols.
* Cleans, organizes, and maintains grounds, enclosures, office areas, food supplies, medical supplies, and other equipment including purchasing and upkeep of inventory within budget.
* Oversees staff, interns, and volunteers, including developing and implementing protocol, scheduling, leading meetings, reporting, handling concerns, and providing training and mentorship.
* Represents Reptiland via off-site lectures, media, tours, and interviews.
* Assists with maintaining logs and documentation.
* Performs other duties or responsibilities, as required.
Qualifications and Requirements:
* A degree in animal sciences, biology, zoology, or related field, or equivalent work experience.
* Minimum of three to five years' experience in reptile and amphibian husbandry.
* Knowledge of basic veterinary medicine.
* Must have or be able to obtain and maintain certification in CPR and first aid.
* Willing and able to work a flexible schedule, travel as needed and be on call for emergencies.
* A valid driver's license is required, and a clean driving record is strongly preferred.
* Proficiency in Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills.
This is a full-time position located in Allenwood, Pennsylvania. Benefits include 50% health insurance, SIMPLE IRA, and PTO.
