Assistive Technology Specialist - Grant-Funded (PT)
Salary: $18.00 per hour
This is a grant-funded position. Grant-funded positions expire either at the end of the stated term or whenever funding for the position ceases.

The College is looking for exceptional colleagues to join the MVCC community. We are currently seeking a part-time Assistive Technology Specialist in our Office of Accessibility Resources. The Assistive Technology Specialist provides assistive technology and other accommodation support to students with disabilities.
Key responsibilities for this position include:
* Maintains and monitors and online student files and office records;
* Responds to student inquiries and provides communication about services;
* Occasionally assists with planning and coordinating special event related to accessibility resources;
* Orders and creates electronic and other alternate format materials;
* Tracks orders and maintains inventory of assistive technology;
* Educates students about their learning needs and provides training on assistive technology, especially for first-time students;
* Maintains confidential student records;
* Develops and implements appropriate educational programs, workshops, and in-service trainings for students, faculty and staff on Universal Designed Learning (UDL) principals and assistive technology;
* Assesses the need and selects, recommends purchases, installs and trains on assistive technologies;
* Develops individualized learning strategies and implement skill-building programs;
* Perform other duties as assigned by the Coordinator of OAR, or the Director of SAW.
Qualifications:
Required Qualifications:
* Associate degree (or 60 credit hours completed) in computer sciences, information technology, communication, or a related field
* Minimum of one (1) year of experience with assistive technology or with people with disabilities
* Strong problem-solving skills
* Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
* Effective communication skills, both written and oral, for conveying technical information clearly to non-technical audiences
Preferred Qualifications:
* Experience using assistive technologies, such as screen readers (JAWS, NVDA), voice recognition software, and experience with keyboard navigation for accessibility
