Job Description •Maintain emergency preparedness/readiness for NYC Health + Hospitals/McKinney •Prepare emergency management operational plans and procedures and resource materials •Provide emergency preparedness training courses that teach staff how to effectively respond to major emergencies and disasters •Develop and implement tests, drills, exercises and evaluations of the emergency management program consistent with local, state, and federal regulations •Ensure, through monthly tests, that emergency management communications systems (i.e., emergency management radios) are operational •Ensure, through monthly inspections, equipment used during emergency management drills and actual events are in place and operational •Plan and direct emergency management response or crisis management activities •Prepare emergency after-action reports that describe response and recovery efforts •Develop, implement, and monitor improvement plans in response to after-action reports •Identify potential opportunities to enhance overall emergency management protocols and is responsible for ensuring that all stakeholders are educated and aware of such protocols •Through drills and actual emergency events, identifies areas that warrant improvement and sets-up collaboratively with other departments audit tools to monitor improvement and reports all such audits to the Quality Assurance/Performance Improvement Committee •Prepare an annual Hazardous Vulnerability Assessment in collaboration with the Emergency Management Committee •Chair and conduct Emergency Management Committee meetings •Report Emergency Management Committee activities and actual incidents to the Quality Assurance/Performance Improvement Committee •Participate in NYC Health + Hospitals/Central Office emergency management activities and meetings •Develop and maintain liaisons with municipalities, county departments, and similar entities to facilitate plan development, response effort coordination, and exchanges of personnel and equipment •Attend meetings, conferences, and workshops related to emergency management to learn new information and to develop working relationships with other emergency management specialists •Assists Administration in the planning, coordinating, directing, and implementing of special projects and activities •Acts as a general resource to all Senior Leaders and Department Heads •Develop and Provide Leadership in activities related to Life Safety •Chairs monthly EOC meetings •Leads weekly EOC rounds with the interdisciplinary team •Coordinates the reporting of EOC findings to the QAPI Committee Minimum Qualifications 1. Master's degree from an accredited college or university in Emergency Management, Disaster Management, Public Health, Public or Business Administration or a related discipline; and three (3) years of experience in emergency preparedness planning and management, or environmental and occupational health and safety or other directly related experience in a healthcare environment; or 2. Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in disciplines, as listed in #1 above; and four (4) years of experience, as described in #1 above. 3. The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Independent Study courses IS-100, 200, 700 and 800.
