Req Number 141137Job DescriptionAssists in providing sanitization and sterilization of caging and associated equipment required for laboratory animal housing and care; provision of clean housing, access to food and environmental enrichment of the animals. Identifies and reports injured and ill animals. Assists in responding as essential personnel for declared disasters.Job ResponsibilityProcesses and assembles caging and equipment in preparation for sanitizing; ensure no live animals remain in caging before sanitizing.Logs information pertinent to cage and equipment to ensure proper maintenance.Identifies and notifies veterinary staff of ill or injured animals.Provides research-specific specialized diets, treated water, and specialized housing arrangements, when needed; records related information as required by approved procedures.Assesses condition of caging equipment, and makes recommendations for equipment replacement or repair.Maintains inventory of stock entering and leaving the facility; decontaminates rooms and supplies.Logs information pertinent to autoclaves to ensure sanitation and sterilization processes are maintained.Ensures eye wash station and fire extinguisher inspections are current and in working order.Cleans work area, washes and waxes flooring, walls, ceiling, and lighting fixtures in the animal holding rooms, cage wash areas, and associated corridors.Performs related duties as required.
