Details at www.duq.edu/benefits Location: Intercollegiate Athletics Position Status: Full-time Hours: Varied Position Number: 232114/10-1000 FLSA Status: ExemptPOSITIONSUMMARY:The Associate Athletic Director of Student-Athlete Recruitment will serve as the initial point of contact for our prospective, incoming and transfer student-athletes. Working in conjunction with head coaches and sports program administrators, this position will provide necessary guidance and support throughout the recruiting, admissions, and financial aid process to ensure all institutional requirements are met. In addition, will be responsible to provide advisement on all NCAA specific requirements necessary for eligibility. This position will report directly to the Vice President of Athletics. DUTIESAND RESPONSIBILITIES:Assesses academic preparedness of all prospective student-athletesEvaluates transcripts and international records for eligibility Works with coaches to complete pre-evaluations of all freshmen, transfer, and graduate prospective student-athletes Ability to create, develop and maintain accurate financial aid records of all student-athletes across the Athletics department Serves as the primary liaison with the Office of Undergraduate and Graduate Admissions and works with coaches throughout the application process to ensure all incoming student-athletes have completed the application and have submitted all necessary documentation to Admissions Liaison to Student-Athlete Admissions Committee and Campus Admissions Department Act on behalf of Intercollegiate Athletics to the Campus Admissions Committee - responsible for speaking on behalf of coaches as it pertains to admitting recruits Participates in team meetings with all teams, as well as Assistant & Head Coaches meetings to convey Admissions and NCAA eligibility requirements and expectations for student-athletes Provides in-depth information on admissions requirements, prerequisite courses, and school/college programs and curricula Serves as the liaison with Admissions Transfer Director(s) to complete evaluations of transfer prospective student-athletes Completes other duties as assigned including professional development and providing annual reports and program evaluationsREQUIREMENTS:Minimum qualifications:Bachelor's degree from an accreditedinstitution and at least 3-5 years of experience in a collegiateadmissions/intercollegiate athletics environment.Thorough knowledge of NCAA eligibilitylegislation, specifically legislation related to initial eligibility andtransfer eligibilityPrevious experience within recruiting or admissions on a collegecampusMust maintain current knowledge of applicable rules andregulations of the conference, the NCAA, as well as other associations andagencies to which the Duquesne University adheresThorough and comprehensive knowledge of academic programs,including curricula, admissions requirements, and financial aid programs, atcolleges/universitiesStrong communication skills (written and verbal), interpersonalskills, and ability to maintain good working relationships with coaches,students, and other staff membersAbility to maintain confidentialityDemonstrated strong attention to detailThorough knowledge and experience working with a diverse studentpopulationAbility to interpret and communicate University policies andprocedures to prospective students and the publicAbility to develop recruitment programs, and design effective materialsBachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalentexperience/trainingPreferredqualifications:Master's degree from an accredited institution and 5-8 years of experience in a collegiate admissions/intercollegiate athletics environment.Alternately, the successful candidate may possess any equivalent combination ofexperience and training, which provides the knowledge, skills and abilitiesrequired to perform the essential job functions.
