The role:

This role requires a dynamic fluid thinker with a strong understanding of the litigation landscape who is eager to be a visible leader within the firm. Your skillset should contain at least 2-3 years' litigation & drafting experience, must be barred and in good standing in NY/NJ.This role has a managerial aspect, as you will be responsible for a team of (3-4) paralegals.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Assist in managing all aspects of the team, including caseload, coaching, meetings, advising, preparing for trials, organizing caseload, research, drafting or reviewing documents, and representing clients in negotiations or court
  • Manage, motivate, and develop paralegals, to strengthen our legal team overall and lead a strong team of your own
  • Represent and grow your own caseload (particularly complex cases) to continue your practice as an attorney
  • Collaborate with the Managing Partner and other leadership to help translate the team goals and priorities into strategic plans
  • Advise on more complex and escalated cases
  • Report on key operational and substantive metrics for the practice that will better inform decision-making, including matter and work product analyses
  • Keep current on the latest industry trends and developments
  • Comfortable making recommendations for improvement & driving to advance your own practice and the firm
  • Collaborate with leadership and colleagues to brainstorm strategies, share knowledge, and contribute to the overall success of the company
  • Define, drive and inspire execution and efficiency
  • Be a visible leader

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Directly supervises approximately 3-4 employees
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with Consumer Legal Groups policies and applicable laws
  • Planning, assigning, and directing work
  • Addressing complaints and resolving problems
  • Approving timecards and paid time off
  • Conducting meetings and coaching sessions as necessary
  • Appraising performance
  • Rewarding and disciplining employees

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education & Experience:

  • Juris Doctorate required
  • Barred & in good standing in NY required
  • 2-3 years of Litigation experience
  • 2-3 years of drafting experience
  • Managerial or leadership experience strongly preferred
  • Experience working in a start-up or small business a plus
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Ability to juggle multiple priorities within tight time constraints
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Strategic thinking and analytical skills.
