Job Description:

An Associate Attorney with 3+ years' experience in business litigation is needed for a hybrid position in the Columbia area. The Associate Attorney will play a key role in representing clients in a variety of complex business disputes. This role includes working collaboratively with our legal team, managing a caseload, and contributing to case strategy from start to resolution. The ideal candidate will have exceptional research, writing, and communication skills, along with a demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

There is no in-office requirement for this position. Obviously, the Associate Attorney must be present for trials.

Associate Attorney Responsibilities:

  • Conduct legal research and draft memoranda, pleadings, motions, and other legal documents in business litigation cases.
  • Assist senior attorneys in managing a variety of litigation matters, including breach of contract, commercial disputes, partnership dissolutions, and intellectual property issues.
  • Participate in all phases of litigation, including discovery, depositions, mediations, trials, and appeals.
  • Prepare for and attend hearings, status conferences, and trials.
  • Analyze case law, statutes, and regulations to determine case strategy and provide legal advice to clients.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, keeping them informed on case developments and setting appropriate expectations.
  • Collaborate with paralegals, legal assistants, and other staff to ensure efficiency in case management.

Associate Attorney Qualifications:

  • Juris Doctor from an accredited law school.
  • Licensed to practice law in South Carolina and in good standing with the South Carolina Bar. North Carolina State Bar admittance is a plus.
  • 3+ years' experience in business litigation or a closely related area.
  • Excellent legal research, writing, and analytical skills.
  • Self-motivated with a proven ability to handle up to 100 cases and meet deadlines.
  • Detail-oriented, highly organized, and able to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong interpersonal and digital communication abilities, with a client-first approach.
  • Knowledge of AI legal platforms and integrations is a plus.
