The Associate Counsel, Operations is responsible for implementing the Companys legal support process, including conducting legal research and overseeing the Companys Request for Legal Assistance process, analyzing laws and regulations, and supporting the Manager, Legal Operations in managing the Companys intellectual property. The Incumbent is responsible for supporting the Senior Counsel with internal/external disputes, litigation, and bankruptcy processes, as needed, and for providing legal support for the Companys subrogation, tax levy and garnishment processes. The Associate Counsel, Compliance also acts as a subject matter expert on and provides legal support regarding HIPAA Privacy requirements and the No Surprises Act reimbursement dispute process. Job-Specific Requirements: At least three (3) years of experience as a practicing attorney is preferred. A Doctorate of Jurisprudence (JD) from an ABA accredited School of Law is required. Must be licensed to practice before all State and Federal Courts of the State of Mississippi and be a member in good standing of the Mississippi State Bar. Excellent research skills including the ability to use Westlaw and other legal research tools in an effective and efficient fashion. PC skills required, including proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite. Must be well versed in all Federal and State laws affecting the health insurance industry, including, but not limited to PPACA, Medicare/Medicaid laws, COBRA, HIPAA, and ERISA.
