Job DetailsJob LocationMethodist University Location - Fayetteville, NCDescriptionMethodist University seeks an Associate Dean for Clinical Education for its new School of Medicine that has been established in partnership with Cape Fear Valley Health in Fayetteville, NC. The School of Medicine is an applicant program with the LCME. Reporting directly to the Senior Associate Dean for Academic Affairs, the Associate Dean for Clinical Education will serve as trusted partner and will oversee the leadership, development, supervision, and assessment of undergraduate clinical medical education through planning, directing, and the implementation of programs, policies, and procedures for medical student clinical education during the third and fourth year. This individual will supervise clerkship directors and work collaboratively with the associate dean for foundational sciences, the associate dean for curriculum/student success, the assistant dean for assessment, hospital leadership, clinical faculty, and the office of student experience. This individual will require the ability to work as a team leader, team member, and team player and possess superior communication skills and emotional intelligence. The ideal candidate will have 5 or more years of experience as a clerkship director or assistant/associate dean in a medical school. An MD/DO degree is required; a certificate or master's degree in health professions/medical education is preferred. Interested applicants should apply through the Methodist University website.*Qualified candidates are invited to submit: •A letter of application; •Curriculum vitae; •A concise equity and diversity statement about research, teaching, or other experiences, successes, and challenges in working with diverse medical student populations; and •Contact information for three references.Job DescriptionTitle:Associate Dean for Clinical EducationReports to:Senior Associate Dean for Academic Affairs Direct Reports:Clerkship DirectorsResponsibilities:Furthers the mission, vision, and goals of the College of Medicine and Methodist UniversityServes as an ambassador for the College, the University, and the Health SystemServes as a member of the Deans' CouncilProvide leadership to a cadre of clerkship directors, and coordinators that work at the medical school and within our health care system including but not limited toClinical curriculum development and implementation including content, pedagogy, and assessment.Episodic, biannual, and annual reviews of compliance with accreditation needs, student performance, faculty engagementCollaborate with Associate Dean for Student Success to ensure all learners are progressing and work develop remediation programs when indicated.Collaborate with the Associate Dean for Foundational Sciences to ensure integration of the basic, clinical, health systems, and behavioral sciences across the UME curriculum.Collaborate with the Assistant Dean for Assessment to oversee the design and development of the assessment system for the clinical curriculum.Bring awareness surrounding new developments in health professions educational technologies and modalities and identifying necessary resources.Define and ensure consistent application of evaluation strategies for student performance.Ensure ongoing compliance with the LCME accreditation standards surrounding the MD educational program.Have experience in the design of block and longitudinal integrated clerkship models.Lead and execute the ongoing process of clinical preceptor recruitment, growing regional partners in numbers, particularly in underserved and rural regional areas.Meet the needs of faculty, optimizing number of students and fulfilling teaching goalsPartner with the office of faculty development to ensure adequate faculty development resources.Provide direct oversight for clerkship and clinical elective lotteries.QualificationsExperience:5 years or more of leadership as the level a clerkship director, assistant/associate dean in a medical school working in a complex, matrixed organizationCredentialsMD/DO degreePrefer Certificate or Master's degree in medical/health professions education
