Position Responsibilities This position exists to provide administrative leadership for the Law Enforcement Division and serve as the Professional Peace Officer Educational (PPOE) Coordinator. The position serves within the Academic and Student Affairs (ASA) unit of the college. Deans are responsible for developing, recommending, and implementing policies, procedures and practices that align with college/system requirements. Specific responsibilities include responding to student issues, program review, faculty evaluations and divisional operations. The position works closely with law enforcement program faculty and the Vice President of Academic and Student Affairs to fulfill a vital role in developing relationships between the community, other institutions, and local and regional law enforcement agencies. Deans of Educational Services contribute to student affairs and collaborate closely with the President's Leadership Council (PLC). PLC members are expected to communicate widely in their divisions and assigned areas and promote a culture of respect and innovation. Provide strategic leadership for the teaching and learning process including academic scheduling for the Law Enforcement division. Provide supervisory leadership for faculty and support staff within the Law Enforcement Division. Assist the Vice President of Academic and Student Affairs with strategic planning, implementation of annual workplans, policy and procedure development and implementation process, and special college-wide projects and initiatives. Participate in System Office initiatives, statewide projects, and college committees as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree with a major in law enforcement, criminal justice, or related field
- POST eligible and currently or previously licensed
- 6-10 years of full-time licensed peace officer experience
- Experience working in higher education in law enforcement, criminal justice, or related field
- Demonstrated leadership experience
- Demonstrated experience working with populations of diverse people
- Excellent verbal, written, and public speaking communication skills
Preferred Qualifications: - Master's degree or higher in criminal justice or related field
- Licensed peace officer experience within the last five years
- Two years' experience as a supervisor, department chair, program coordinator, or similar
- Prior experience as a PPOE coordinator
- Direct experience working with Minnesota POST board in an official capacity
