Job Description:

Manage all advising tasks including but not limited to:

* Read, interpret, and apply aid regulations and university policies and disseminate regulatory and policy guidance to Advising Staff and other relevant TU Departments.

* Manage all Advising verification tasks including identify and resolve issues, and manage advisor workload and processing time.

* Coordinate PLUS Loan processing.

* Coordinate Alternative Loan processing including preparation of batch files, reviewing error reports, reconciliation, and serve as back-up for loan processing.

* Evaluate over-award and census date issues and approve exceptions.

* Coordinate minimum enrollment adjustments including running queries, supervising advisors, coordinating processes and timelines with other staff and Student & University Billing Office.

* Coordinate timing of aid adjustments revised bills, rebate checks, and withdrawals with Student & University Billing Office.

* Supervise the coordination of the Federal Work-Study program and aid processing for our Freshman Transition Program, Associate to bachelor's Nursing program, and Physician's Assistant Programs.

* Determine homelessness status.

* Help update our aid forms and communication and lead our FAFSA filing campaign.

* Coordinate all presentations to students and parents including developing presentations, assigning presenters, and participating in events.

* Write and maintain Advising Unit policies and procedures.

Work closely with Director and other Associate Directors to set goals, make decisions and establish procedures.

* Coordinate aid processes with Scholarship Unit especially over-awards, state aid, and withdrawals.

* Support Internal Control processes by managing Advisors' completion of the reports, and helping to identify issues and develop procedures.

* Assist Director with packaging strategies and provide feedback related to funding and budget issues.

* Coordinate the review of packaging simulation data and help to identify issues.

* Advise Director of any issues and provide recommendations for solutions and resolution.

Collaborate processes and services with the Coordinator of the Processing Unit including:

* Phone coverage

* Changes in procedures and processing times.

* Review, identify, and resolve customer service issues.

* Provide training and hold meetings to ensure accurate responses to student and parent questions.

* Provide training and help manage the automated verification processes and PLUS Biographic/Demographic update processes completed by the assigned processor(s).

Supervisory responsibilities:

* Supervise 6 advisors including hiring, training, timesheets, leave requests, performance evaluations, and resolution of any personnel issues.

* Determine appropriate division of workload between Advising staff including Advising splits and program management.

* Monitor workload and processing time to identify issues.

* Hold regular advising and training meetings to ensure quick and accurate communication of changes to regulations/policies and identify any current issues.

Attendance/Withdrawal Responsibilities:

* Complete or oversee Return to Title IV (R2T4) withdrawal calculations to ensure compliance with regulations.

* Coordinate with Scholarship unit and Bursar's office regarding medical withdrawals.

* Coordinate review of students who never began attendance in courses to reevaluate aid eligibility.

* Coordinate review of repeated coursework.

Miscellaneous Responsibilities:

* Liaison for multiple offices on campus including but not limited to Student Conduct, Bursar, Office of New Student Programs, and Undergraduate Marketing.

* Serve as point of contact for student/parent inquiries to the President's Office.

* Participate in professional development activities such as webinars and conferences as budget allows.

Telework may be available for this position up to two days per week following the completion of 90 days of service in good standing.

Required:

* Bachelor's degree

* Four years of college financial aid experience.

* Comprehensive knowledge of federal and state financial aid regulations.

* Experience in managing complex projects as well as familiarity with maintaining complex technical rules in support of business processes.

* Skill in examining and re-engineering operations and procedures, formulating policy and developing and implementing new strategies and procedures.

* Analytical and problem-solving skills.

* Ability to take required initiative to solve problems.

* Ability to collaborate with others and supervise and train employees, including negotiating conflict.

* Excellent customer service skills as well as excellent communication skills for a diverse community.

Preferred:

* Experience with Oracle PeopleSoft aid system.
