Details at www.duq.edu/benefits Location: FinancialAid, Enrollment Management Group Position Status: Full-time Hours: Varied Position Number: 230602/10-975 FLSA Status: ExemptPOSITIONSUMMARY:The AssociateDirector Financial Aid works collaboratively with the Director of Financial Aidand Scholarships and other staff members to administer all aspects of thefinancial aid process, which includes but not limited to the development,administration and interpretation of financial aid policies and procedures inaccordance with established federal, state and institutional guidelines. Worksindependently and is expected to exercise discretion and independent judgmentin carrying out the responsibilities, including but not limited to, developingfinancial aid strategies for all university funds. Supports Enrollment Management goals torecruit and retain students. Provides leadership and direction for thepolicies, procedures and operations involved with the awarding and delivery offinancial aid and scholarship programs.DUTIESAND RESPONSIBILITIES:Provides leadershipand direction for the policies, procedures and operations involved with theawarding and delivery of financial aid and scholarship programs. Will be responsible for the overall compliance and trainingwithin the financial aid operation. Thisincludes auditing and corrective actions for the quality control of potentialover-award, grade level progression, verification, c-code, and professionaljudgment files. Will be responsible for assisting with the processing ofReturn-to-Title IV (R2T4) calculations, and ensure fund adjustments,post-withdrawal disbursements, and exit counseling notifications are allprocessed within Department of Education timelines. This position will also be responsible for the processing ofstudents Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP), as well as the SAP Appealprocess. Monitor and correct all past-due disbursements, to include,Title IV and Private Loan disbursements.Monitor departmental customerservice to families and students. Counsel incoming and current students on Financial aid packages, andaddress any escalated concerns or complaints.Maintainand process financial aid within federal, state, and institutionalguidelines. Represent financial aid at variousopen house events for current and incoming students.Collaborate with ExternalRelations on yearly Donor Recognition Reception events.Providesathletic contracts for student athletes.Completes otherduties as assigned.REQUIREMENTS:Minimum qualifications:Bachelor's degree from an accreditedinstitution.3-5 years of financial aid experiencePreferred qualifications:Strong functionalknowledge of FAMS system (Banner/Ellucian preferred).Proficiency with PC, Microsoft Officetools, email and the Internet with the ability to learn a variety of newtechnology systems; COGNOS reporting; familiarity with Slate and Banner preferred.Alternately, thesuccessful candidate may possess any equivalent combination of experience andtraining, which provides the knowledge, skills and abilities required toperform the essential job functions. This includes, but is not limited to, thefollowing:Highly developedinterpersonal, analytic, problem-solving, organizational and communicationskills, including the ability to listen thoughtfully and respectfully to adiverse population of constituents and stakeholdersStrongcommunication skills, both oral and written providing the ability toeffectively communicate with multiple internal and external constituentsKnowledge andunderstanding of federal, states and agency-accrediting rules and regulationsas they pertain to higher education admission.
