Job Title Associate Director for Strategic Initiatives & Project Management Position Number 999851 Department Student Affairs Salary $50,000 - $55,000 Job Summary/DescriptionThis position serves on the Division of Student Affairs leadership team and is a primary liaison to campus partners as it relates to outreach and initiatives for the Office of the Vice President for Student Affairs (VPSA). Serving on the VPSA team, the position assists the VPSA with strategic planning and project management, coordinates business operations and data analytics, supports Student Affairs fundraising initiatives, and serves as a liaison to campus partners. The role also coordinates student interactions and engagements for the VPSA, VPSA feedback strategies, and communications specific to the vice president.Typical Duties/Job DutiesStrategic Planning & Project Management (30%)* Works in collaboration with the VPSA to determine priorities and objectives for the VPSA and Division of Student Affairs (DSA). Manages short and long-term VPSA initiatives, coordinates the strategic planning process including coordination of meetings, facilitation guides, speakers, and mechanisms for feedback. Develops project plan for strategic planning process and assists VPSA with implementation, communication, and accountability. Consults with VPSA to determine ongoing strategies that center the student experience.* Provide leadership to project teams throughout the project life cycle (initiation, planning, implementation and transition to operational processes) through the use of standard project management practices to ensure that activities and deliverables are met in a timely fashion, within scope, and within budget utilizing MS Teams tools.* Ensure collaborative processes occur by intentionally incorporating and facilitating constituent/target audience interactions with the project team. Recommend policy and/or system changes to the VPSA. Prepare periodic project status reports for the VPSA, DSA leadership team, and senior executives.* Works with VPSA to plan signature events for divisional staff.Business Operations (30%)* Under general direction of the VPSA, this position manages all day-to-day business operations, budget reporting, planning and preparing of budgets including day-to-day business operations in the Division of Student Affairs, including but not limited to VPSA contract support, requisitions, staff travel, and Purchase Card transactions. Including special projects and initiatives as determined by VPSA.* Work with VPSA, DSA staff, and Student Service Fee Committee to develop and implement an appropriate and effective department budget.* Significant interaction and coordination with the Office of Housing & Residential Programs.Data Analytics and Assessment (20%)* Supports the analysis of divisional operations to identify continuous improvement opportunities in order to enhance overall student success. Substantial collaboration and support for residential students.* Track and assess the impact of office programs and initiatives related student retention, success, student learning outcomes, and integration of values-based culture in the co-curricular student experience.* Creates pathways for the Division of Student Affairs and senior administrators to build meaningful connections with students.Communication & Collaboration (10%)* Ensures collaboration with Campus Life, faculty, senior administrators, and key constituency areas. Documents and manages flow of concerns, priorities and projects and serves as a source of accountability for the VPSA, Student Affairs Leadership Team.* Liaises with Campus Life Communications on behalf of the VPSA to ensure timely communications to students, divisional staff, campus partners, families and other constituency groups. Leads and collaborates with Student Affairs Communications to develop crisis communication strategies.* Develops presentations for strategic initiatives, assists with committee presentations including Board of Regents.* Liaises with the Offices of the President, Provost, and Deans of the Colleges to promote ASU Values, engagement, leadership, wellbeing, and student success.Fundraising/External Relationships (10%)* Partners with University Development to determine priorities and VPSA engagement in university fundraising initiatives. Collaborates with the VPSA to determine fundraising goals across all Student Affairs units.* Other duties as assigned by the Vice President for Student AffairsKnowledge, Skills and Abilities* Skilled in the following areas: persuasion and negotiation ( influence without authority ), consultation skills, excellent analytical and reporting skills, interpersonal relations, collaboration, confidentiality, excellent oral and written communication abilities.* Ability and desire to coach and develop other professionals.* Demonstrated problem solving and decision-making skills.* Proven ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast paced, dynamic environment.* Excellent organization skills.* Sound judgment, decision making, and high ethical standards.* Adaptable, innovative in a fast paced, growth-oriented and time-critical environment.* Knowledge of developing, implementing and supervising student affairs and services.* Knowledge and an understanding of the current trends and issues in: student affairs, student development, student support services, and student retention.* Ability to respond in a helpful and sensitive manner to questions and concerns of internal and external constituencies.* Ability to accomplish goals within a time frame and within budget.Minimum Qualifications* Master's degree in student personnel, higher education, college student affairs administration or related field required and 5 years of experience in higher education including large-scale event planning, marketing and communications, programming, fundraising, and supervision of professional staff.* Demonstrated project and people management skills.
