GENERAL PURPOSE:

The Associate Director, Fund Compliance and Stewardship is a pivotal role within the University of Rochester's Advancement Division and Donor Engagement Department. This position is instrumental in safeguarding the university's donor-funded endowments by ensuring their management and expenditure align with donor intent. Collaborating closely with colleagues on the donor impact Reporting, gift management and fundraising teams, the Associate Director will oversee a comprehensive range of fund management responsibilities, encompassing data management, gift agreement management, audits and compliance, financial analysis, and stewardship reporting.

Additionally, the Associate Director will be tasked with developing and maintaining reports and data that support the University's comprehensive campaign. This includes maintaining accurate records of professorships and scholarships and transforming this data into actionable reports for campaign leadership.

The Associate Director will work collaboratively with various stakeholders across the University, including academic departments, financial partners, and university leadership. This role necessitates strong organizational skills, financial and technology proficiency, meticulous attention to detail, and a profound understanding of fund management and compliance regulations.

**RESPONSIBILITIES:**

**CAMPAIGN REPORTING**

+ **Oversee the strategic management of campaign data:** Maintain meticulous records of professorship, scholarship, and other campaign-related data to ensure its accuracy and integrity.

+ **Drive data-driven decision-making:** Regularly update and reconcile campaign data within relevant databases or spreadsheets, leveraging analytics to identify trends and inform strategic decision-making.

+ **Foster transparency and accountability:** Ensure timely dissemination of campaign results to stakeholders, fostering transparency and accountability within the organization.

**FUND COMPLIANCE**

+ **Oversee comprehensive endowment audits:** Conduct rigorous audits of donor-funded endowments with a focus on unspent or underspent budgets, identifying areas for improvement and compliance optimization.

+ **Develop strategic resolution plans:** Categorize endowed funds based on various criteria and devise strategic action plans grounded in a deep understanding of donor agreements and policies.

+ **Ensure strict adherence to donor intent:** Safeguard the University's commitment to endowment compliance by ensuring endowed funds are expended in accordance with donor intentions and administrative obligations.

+ **Serve as a subject matter expert:** Act a primary point of contact for partners across the University, providing expert guidance on spending restrictions and preferences related to donor-funded endowments.

+ **Provide in-depth financial analysis:** Conduct comprehensive financial audits and analysis for University departments, including senior leadership and financial administrators, to support informed decision-making and optimize resource allocation.

**FUND DATA MAINTENANCE**

+ **Streamline financial processes:** Lead collaborative efforts with unit finance offices, Gift and Donor Records, Advancement Finance, and the Office of Budgets and Planning to optimize the accuracy and efficiency of select financial activities, including the monthly endowment wire and quarterly endowment holding account reconciliation.

+ **Establish new endowed funds:** Oversee the creation, distribution, and oversight of the fund data sheet process, identifying and implementing process improvements to streamline the establishment of new endowed funds. Ensure effective utilization of endowment fund budgets and expenditures.

+ **Enhance donor data management:** Oversee the acquisition and management of new stewardee and allocation data into the Advancement CRM, ensuring accurate and up-to-date donor information for effective stewardship and decision-making.

**DONOR IMPACT REPORTING**

+ **Contribute to the collection and analysis of fund data:** As a key member of the donor impact reporting team, assist with the collection and analysis of comprehensive fund data to effectively communicate the impact of donor contributions to stakeholders.

+ **Optimize reporting processes:** Collaborate with third-party vendors, such as Mythos, to streamline and enhance the donor impact reporting process, ensuring efficiency and accuracy.

+ **Provide tailored financial reporting:** Gather and analyze financial information to generate specialized donor reports, including those for the Board of Trustees and other University leadership, highlighting the specific impact of their contributions.

**SPECIAL PROJECTS**

+ Gather donor information and assist with planning and implementation of annual Celebration of Scholarships

+ Execute benchmarking projects to gain valuable insight from peer institutions.

+ Other duties as assigned.

**QUALIFICATIONS:**

+ Bachelors Degree required.

+ Masters Degree preferred.

+ 5+ experience required, with a preference for stewardship or advancement experience in a higher education institution.Experience in finance, budgeting or fund management extremely helpful;

+ or equivalent combination of education and experience required.

+ Proven ability to successfully manage complex, multi-phase projects from inception to completion while balancing multiple priorities.

+ Advanced technical and financial skills and computer proficiency including fundraising systems and software, and Microsoft Office products.

+ Experience reviewing complex donor agreements or legal documents.

+ Strong interpersonal and communication skills.Builds trust with a variety of constituents.Listen for understanding and clarity and effectively express thoughts and ideas.

+ Self-directed and results oriented.Thinks critically and exercises mature judgment in identifying problems and generating alternative solutions.

**Pay Range**

Pay Range: $55,955 - $78,336 Annually

_The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the jobs compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations._
