Job Summary

The Associate Director is responsible for providing assistance to the Executive Director, giving special attention to the development, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of the strategic plan and goals for the center. Responsible for overseeing the implementation of center initiatives, track and communicate progress of goals, evaluate and continuously improve center performance, and oversee daily operations. This responsibility includes the major duties listed below.

Responsibilities

Strategic Planning, Monitoring, and Evaluation - 20

Assess overall organization performance and manage the center's Performance Management System in collaboration with the Research Team and Executive Director.

Assist the Executive Director with planning and implementing strategies and processes for strategic initiatives across the teams/departments in alignment with strategic goals of the center.

Align operational processes, resources-planning and center goals with overall strategy and strategic initiatives.

Provide support and insight into significant organizational changes (e.g. shift in strategic focus).

Candidate must have leadership and analytical skills with strong organizational abilities and demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across units and build collaborative teams and organizational structures to advance the strategic objectives of the university and the center.

Provide oversight to and ensure cohesion of Center's personnel across programming, research and policy, grants, and marketing.

Administration and Communication - 20

Assist the Executive Director with projects and initiatives by completing assigned tasks.

Oversee the center's internal and external communication processes and protocols.

Monitor and evaluate activities assigned to other staff members.

Build and maintain positive relationships with partners, collaborators, staff, and the community.

Assist the Executive Director to establish and implement project budgets, timelines, and metrics.

Present center information to clients, leadership, governing board and other stakeholders.

Schedule, organize, and participate in state, institution, community, and center events.

Management - 50

Develop information, coordinate tracking and monitoring of information/data across center initiatives and write requested reports (ie., Board of Regents and Georgia College annual report and 5-year self-study and Deal Center Annual Report).

Oversee the recruitment of staff, staff development programs, and on-boarding for new and part-time employees.

Coordinate the development of copy for promotional information and other publications (i.e.. Fiscal Year annual report and core narrative)

Demonstrated analytical abilities, including the ability to utilize data to inform decision-making.

The center is especially interested in candidates who can work collegially and effectively with individuals of all backgrounds and whose experience, research, teaching, and service can contribute to the excellence of the academic community.

Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements

Earned Master's Degree in Educational Leadership or related field or 10+ years experience in similar job role.

Other Required Qualifications

A good working knowledge of early childhood education, language and literacy development, and reading science; string leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills; solid computer literacy; and strong organizational and management skills.

Required Experience

3-5 years of relevant work in early childhood education, research study design and outcome measurement, leadership, and supervisory experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Educational Qualifications

Earned doctoral degree in Educational Leadership or related field.

Preferred Experience

5 years or more of relevant work experience leading and supervising staff, working knowledge of early language and literacy development, systems change, and statistical methods; demonstrated effectiveness in working with diverse populations.
