Title: Associate Director of CASA
Status: Full-time, exempt (12-month appt.)
Schedule: M-F, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (occasional evenings & weekends)
The Center for Academic Success and Achievement (CASA) at Baldwin Wallace University seeks an experienced self-starter to serve its undergraduate and graduate students by coordinating learning support services including tutoring, skills development workshops, and academic coaching.
Job Function:
Reporting to the Director of CASA, the Associate Director will primarily run CASA's tutoring program and develop new programs in response to emerging student needs. The Associate Director will draw from research to design, deliver, and assess academic support programs, ultimately impacting students' success and sense of academic belonging at BW.
Essential Responsibilities:
* Manage all aspects of CASA's peer tutoring program including recruitment, hiring, training, and supervision of tutors
* Design and conduct tutor training sessions throughout the year
* Create and administer an assessment plan for tutoring and other CASA services, including post-appointment surveys and tutor observations
* Source, collect, and analyze program data; create reports; review and explain trends; formulate recommendations to achieve program goals
* Develop partnerships with departments, individual faculty, and campus offices to implement projects in response to emerging student needs
* Communicate regularly with faculty, staff, and students
* Supervise professional and student staff
* Provide academic advising and mentoring for designated populations of undergraduate students
* Teach one or two sections of BW's First Year Experience course (FYE 100) during the academic year
* Work directly with students to assess their academic challenges and provide appropriate support and resources
* Contribute to CASA's portfolio of programming for students, faculty, and staff
* Market and promote CASA services
* Ensure that CASA programs are inclusive for first-generation students, low-income students, underrepresented students of color, and other students historically marginalized in higher education
* Manage appointment software, including setting up tutor profiles, entering tutor schedules, and troubleshooting scheduling problems
* Participate in University initiatives focused on transition, retention, academic, and other student support services
* Coordinate and lead the CASA staff in the implementation of testing accommodations in the Alternative Testing space
* Maintain testing information in the AIM (Accessible Information Management) system
* Serve as a resource for students, faculty, and staff regarding alternative testing processes and policies
* Participate in relevant training and professional development services to effectively support students' academic success and achievement
* Assume additional duties as assigned by immediate supervisor or higher-level administration
Qualifications:
* A Master's degree in a field of Education, or an academic discipline relevant to academic skills development
* Minimum of 3-5 years of progressive experience in a learning center, academic support, or student services role
* Experience working directly with students through teaching, academic advising, student retention initiatives, support services, or related areas.
* Experience with faculty and staff development
* Proficiency with computer hardware, software, and online platforms (especially Microsoft Office and Adobe suites)

This position requires a motivated leader with the ability to deliver quality customer service, as well as develop and maintain collaborative relationships. The successful candidate will have a record of prioritizing effectively, proactively solving problems, managing multiple projects simultaneously with high levels of accuracy, and achieving goals within established time frames. The candidate must possess a strong understanding of student development theories, learning strategies, and academic success initiatives. The Associate Director must have superior written, verbal, listening, and interpersonal communication skills, as well as strong organizational skills. The Associate Director must possess a student-centered teaching and advisement philosophy and demonstrate the ability to work well with students, faculty, and staff at all levels within a diverse, multi-cultural, collaborative, and creative environment.
Working Conditions and Physical Effort:
Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment. Minimal physical effort is required. Minimal exposure to physical risk.
