Job Description
SUMMARY OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Working with Medical and Nursing Administration and Education at each facility, and the simulation center staff, the Associate Director of Nursing will guide the creation, delivery, evaluation and improvement of the maternal mortality and morbidity simulation-based program. Tasks will include but are not limited to:
- Overseeing the administration of simulation/course delivery including CME & CEU where appropriate
- Preparing the simulation environment and overseeing the delivery of scenarios
- Developing scenarios to support learning objectives
- Assisting other Simulation Educators in delivery of scenarios
- Operating simulation equipment including on the fly changes to support learners needs
- Assist with the revision of courses and instructional materials based on evaluation results
- Teaching simulation courses and facilitate debriefing sessions
- lnstall, test, operate, troubleshoot and repair, or coordinate repair of, simulators and other equipment used for simulation instructional programs.
- Provide technical assistance with delivery of simulation-based instructional programs, including (as needed): operating simulators and/or audio-visual, computer and telecommunication equipment during simulations; editing and storing digital records of simulation sessions and retrieving them for debriefing sessions; helping with room and equipment set-ups and clean-ups before and after teaching sessions.
- Facilitate technology aspects of teleconference/distance learning sessions.
- Help to manage equipment storage and maintain accurate records of equipment and supplies inventory and equipment maintenance and repairs.
- Train Simulation faculty and staff on operational and technical aspects of simulation
- Train, in collaboration with the Simulation Center, staff in feedback and debriefing skills
- Assist with other special projects or initiatives as needed with specific emphasis on Women's Health Services.
Minimum Qualifications
- Licensed and currently registered to practice as a Professional Nurse in New York State, plus (2) or (3) below.
- A Masters Degree in Nursing Administration, Education or an equivalent field and a minimum of six years of satisfactory nursing experience, of which four years shall have been in a supervisory, teaching or administrative capacity; or,
- A Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing and seven years of satisfactory nursing experience, five years of which shall have been in a supervisory or teaching capacity; or,
- A satisfactory equivalent combination of education and experience. However, all candidates must be licensed and currently registered to practice as a Professional Nurse in New York State.
Department Preferences
- At least 2-5 years experience in nursing in Obstetrics
- Knowledgeable regarding the use, and skilled in the operation, of simulator technologies - anatomic models, task trainers, screen-based simulations, full body mannequins, virtual reality/hybrid simulators.
- Knowledge of computer hardware and software relevant to simulator functions.
- Knowledge of and experience using audio-video equipment and software for recording, duplication, mixing and editing, transfer, and storage
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and web-based applications.
- Strong written and oral communication skills including the ability to communicate information clearly and simply to non-technical persons.
- Ability to master new equipment and software rapidly and independently.
- Ability to diagnose and fix equipment failures.
- Ability to work well under pressure.
- Ability to work well with people from different disciplines and having different levels of training.
- Ability to work well independently and as a team member.
- Resourcefulness and excellent problem-solving ability.
